Is #AmINext the next #MeToo or just a branch off the tree?

Female rage is the essential fuel of #MeToo. Unchecked it is the potent force that will destroy it. You may also have noticed that we’re starting to lose the crowd. This gets called “backlash,” which makes it seem a product of sexism, but to a significant extent it’s also a product of the rage itself, and the irrational, score-settling things it can make people do. “I’m actually not at all concerned about innocent men losing their jobs over false sexual assault/harassment allegations,” tweeted Emily Linden, a writer for Teen Vogue. “Sorry. If some innocent men’s reputations have to take a hit in the process of undoing the patriarchy, that is a price I am absolutely willing to pay.” These turned out to be sentiments that a fair number of activists shared—along with the assumption that only men would reject them. But when messy hook ups and ill-conceived passes receive the same public shaming and career-damaging punishment as serious crimes, you also get the attention of millions of wives, mothers, and sisters who are not willing to see their loved ones unfairly targeted, and some of them are starting to cool on the movement. As for the men—the good ones—they’re eager to fight rape, but unwilling to lose their jobs over unfounded or minor accusations.

These the type of people yall standing shoulder to shoulder with on just letting people post anything. I ain't willing to do that. There has to be a better way. I can admit I don't know the better way but its out there.

I don't know but I would like to think somebody said something to her about it. Yet based on the majority of the answers in this thread seems like most agree with her stance.
 
Nothing like using a good old-fashioned copy/paste job with no source cited using a quote by some random person that nobody knows or cares about to make a point.

Do you go to vegetarians and say "Hitler was a vegetarian! That's who you want to be like? Hitler?"

That's how silly it is to use a quote of some unrelated person's unrelated stance to try to make a point in a discussion.

Youre ruining your own point here. Of course its difficult to provide proof on social media...which is of course why you should never alledge something like this on social media in the first place.

You can go to law enforcement who should be trained to handle these cases. Or go to your personal lawyer. Or go to a sexual trauma specialist. There are literally dozens of sexual trauma advocates that victims can utilize nowadays....this is just irresponsible and dumb.

Even if the accused did commit rape they can still file a libel lawsuit...its a high bar sure but they can tie the accuser in legal fees. Plus those types of lawsuits are often about perception...the perp can say "see i filed a lawsuit against this person...im innocent" even tho there full of shit.

And besides if this is south africa (and hell even here) where laws are lax...do you really want to put a violent criminals and your information out there for everybody including him to see? Ppl dont understsnd that criminals like this are criminals for a reason. They can find and hurt you more than you can do anything to do to them. You think just becsuse you put them on blast some of them are just gonna shrivel up?

Sexual trauma advocate ain’t justice tho. And i think after being raped they pretty much know the danger of the person

Why not? If the shit happened then they can and should do whatever they want.

Let's put it this way... if somebody you know steals from you what you're supposed to do is go to the police station, file a report, get laughed at for wasting their time and never get your shit back. But what really happens is you catch him out there, whoop his ass, get your shit back and tell everybody to watch out for him because he's a snake.

So why is it not ok for rape victims to seek their own form of justice or retribution?

Only reason I can see is that sometimes somebody innocent might be accused which is true with every crime. And the number of false rape reports is small af. But we gotta worry about one innocent guy being slandered vs the 50 other rapists walking around.

You really wouldn't be so cavalier about that innocent person if it was you, your son(if you have one), nephew uncle, brother, cousin, best friend, etc.

Nobody wants rapists walking around but there is a way to go about things and people need to work together to figure that out. But just anybody putting up pictures and allegations of people on social media ain't it.

I'm done with this though. This the let everyone cook era. So fuck it let everyone post and/or say anything they want.

Just because victims want to be heard and you don’t approve of the how does not mean let everybody cook
 
Women love accusing men of sexual misconduct but hate it when men say anything about what a woman does sexually even if it is sexual misconduct.
