HipHop Would Not Exist Without Jamaicans & Puerto Ricans - KRS One

I believed this for a long time until I found out the real history and yes Black Americans did make hip hop.

I was under the impression that Jamaicans came up with the block party format when in fact they got it from Black Americans and reggae is an attempt at R&B.

I’m sure y’all know everything else I can type to dispel this.

So African Americans are still responsible for like 98% of hip hop. So some Jamaicans and Puerto Ricans played a part?

Black folks need to get a toe hold into their own publishing and distribution. Thered likely be a major shift if we controlled those aspects of the culture and I think there would be a drastic shift in the type of content thats put out as well
