Guns in America

naw, naw, naw fam. The moment I read how they were including gang shit in "mass shootings" the very first thing I said was they're trying to pin that shit on Black and Brown men.
I haven’t seen any gang/beef related shootings reported on in media or politics as mass shooters so not sure how you say they’re pinning it on us.

Yes they use those in the stats to inflate them, but no one’s tried to paint us as mass shooters. When you think mass shooter, you think crazy white dude.

It's coming. That's why I said it ain't gonna hit home until it shows up on the evening news. And it's gonna be on some slick shit too "a report released by the CDC today illustrates how mass shootings are no longer just perpetrated by white men..."

I can empty 100 rounds into paper on a range practicing with just one handgun and that's not even a satisfactory practice session with it. If you own a gun, you really need to practice with it, and in order to practice with it, you need to put lots of rounds through it each time you go out. You can't just sit there with it behind the closet door or in a night stand for years on end and expect to be able to use it well enough to protect yourself or your loved ones the day someone breaks in or when someone catches you slippin' at the gas pump.

On top of that, stockpiling ammo is a very common, normal thing to do, especially with the prices in a state of flux like thy are. Last week I caught some 9mm hollow point ammo on clearance sale for $8 for a box of 20. I copped 4 boxes and since it's still on sale, I'mma cop 3-4 more as I type this out. Some shit just ain't cheap, so if you see it for a low, you buy as much of it as you can in that moment. There's a ban on importing 7.62x39mm ammo right now (AK47 ammo), and the cheap Russian stuff is what most cats that have AK's and AR's chambered for that round use for target practice, etc. So now when some pops up for sale for cheap, people rush to grab as much of it as possible.

Limiting people on what they can purchase because of a couple of psycho's a year ain't right. Alcohol kills more people than every type of gun combined, every single year, and that's not even including drunk driving cases, which far exceed the number of people that die in every definition of a "mass shooting" incident...

... And yet there's no limit on how much alcohol you can buy or how much you can stockpile in your crib.

... and in case any of y'all wondered, this is the 9mm I copped.

I'mma take a box or two to the range this weekend to test in in my 9mm joints.
Also 7.62x51 is a lot more expensive since Russia/Ukraine

These guys would freak out if they knew how much you can get of 9mm for less than 500 lol

Was listening to PBS radio in the car today & they were talking about United States guns fueling the violence in Mexico

This just came across my timeline. I'm kinda surprised 'cause FB really comes down harsh on anything gun related.

One or two of y'all have repeatedly said that the whole "good guy with a gun" thing is a myth. Let this challenge your beliefs. We've actually had videos showing it posted on this board and the IC, yet a few of y'all still believe it's not common at all.

This is the very shit I've gone through trying to buy all of my guns except my last two. It's not easy to legally buy a gun in this country despite what these politicians try to tell you. I lost out on three purchases because it took so long for the background check to come back that my time to buy expired (you have 30 days from the time you submit the 4473). The "gun control" laws only create obstacles for law-abiding citizens, they do absolutely nothing to stop criminals from getting their hands on guns.

what state did this happen in?

and doesn't a CC permit prevent u having to do a background check to purchase?

Michigan.

A concealed carry permit typically does negate the NICS check, but if you're just buying a joint for the crib, then you wouldn't have one and need to go through that check every time.

I had to get a uPIN issued in order to speed up the process; that's how my last two took 30 minutes and 10 minutes respectively. I'm still working on my CPL, got some issues that need to be wrapped up before the state will issue one to me. I should be good to go by the summer.

explain the bolded

typically when u go to buy a pistol/rifle they do a NICS check but only if u don't have a valid CC permit already

it varies across states, but here in NC if ur CC permit is valid then u can buy a pistol and leave the store in less that 15mins

if u don't have a CC permit, then u have to get a single pistol purchase permit signed by ur county sheriff

I'm always interested in how other states do pistol purchases cuz it's weird that there are so many variations by each state

In order to possess a carry permit, you've already had an FBI background check done so the ATF and FBI is like "Aiight, they're good". If you don't have one, then they run a NICS check every time you buy a gun. In 2024, Michigan started requiring a purchase permit to buy guns if you don't have a CPL, which is some bullshit 'cause when you apply for the LTP, they run a background check on you, if you pass they give you the permit but then you STILL gotta go through the NICS background check when you submit your 4473.

the quickest & easiest way I've acquired firearms is thru private sales

"In Tennessee, private individuals can legally buy and sell firearms directly without background checks or mandatory paperwork, provided both parties are state residents and the buyer is not legally prohibited from owning firearms. While no license or record-keeping is required by law, using a bill of sale is recommended to verify the buyer's identity and residency, such as with a driver's license."

Out here you still have to get an LTP from local police or the sheriff for private sales unless you have a CPL or are active law enforcement.

ALL firearms purchases will require a License to Purchase a Firearm (LTP) unless the purchaser has a current and valid Concealed Pistol License (CPL), a MCOLES number (law enforcement), or is a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL). One can obtain a LTP from any police agency in the State of Michigan, including the Ann Arbor Police Department. The LTP is in triplicate, one designated the Purchaser Copy, one designated the Seller Copy, and one designated the Licensing Authority Copy.
For those who have a CPL, MCOLES number, or is a FFL, a Firearms Sales Record (FSR) will be used to complete the sale/transfer of a firearm.
