Drama in Bristol: Is Rachel Nichols racist?

We got three black men up there? Let's throw in a white woman!

The exact same thing could be said about Nichols and that she was only given her position because she's a white woman when she started. But no one would say that right? We just ask we're viewed the same way.

Let's not act like she's missing out on any opportunities

I think Nichols pitched the idea to ESPN for "The Jump" which is a daily NBA show. She also had big input in who would be her cohost on the show. It's one of the networks most popular shows now.

I think her seniority at the network and the show turning out to be as popular as it has been helped her with negotiating certain stuff in her contract like being able to cover the Finals. That's why she brought it up in the chat that was leaked, that certain stuff is in her contract.

It seems (from the outside looking in) like she got the sideline gig and alot of the NBA duties because her show is bringing in a good amount of viewers

Taylor, whom executives had asked numerous times to change her interactions with Nichols, said that the only people punished by ESPN’s actions were women of color: Johnson, herself and the three sideline reporters — Lisa Salters, Cassidy Hubbarth and Andrews — who received lesser assignments so that Nichols could have the lead sideline reporter role and now were not being allowed to appear on the show live.

I really had no idea about the politics of what goes on behind the scenes to get these people on our screens

I think the problem with this is where is the proof?

Is my job really giving my duties to someone else because of their race, or, is that person actually better than me and I feel bitter and blame it on race?
