But the complaints about canceling people is that very few people are ever actually cancelled and when they are it's usually due to a criminal charge being connected to it. Not just saying something that offends people. So these people are complaining about something doesn't actually have any long term effects on people

I'm sure u can think of more than a handful of examples where people have lost a job or opportunity within their life long careers for simply saying (or tweeting) the "wrong" thing and nothing more.
