I'm just going from memory right now but, on average only 28-ish transfolks are murdered in any given year.

28 out of around 2 million that self-identify as trans in the US. That's a minuscule number.

There's no epidemic of murders, there's no cause for alarm, there's no none of that. Just sensationalism to draw attention to transfolks to make is seem as if they're being targeted somehow. The problem here is that the way these podcasts and assorted other activists report on it greatly exaggerates the issue to the point where it's a blatant lie, and when people come to champion the cause and later find out they were lied to, the cause loses credibility as well as allies. Nobody wants to be lied to, especially if the lie causes people to act out based on it.

This is the argument they like to ignore.

Why can't they be up front about their shit? Why lie about what you are to get close? And why wait until after something sexual happens to tell the truth?

They prove themselves to be untrustworthy from jump.
