Welcome To aBlackWeb

Also if anyone cares to buy access to it, Tough Guise is a great documentary that discusses, “how social norms teach boys and young men that being a "real man" is about being in control, dominating others, and doing whatever it takes -- including resorting to violence -- to avoid the shame of being perceived as "feminine." Along the way, the film explores violent images of manhood in television, movies, video games, pornography, social media, and sports culture, and examines how our ideas about masculinity are implicated in school shootings, bullying, sexual violence, homophobia, and gay bashing.”

I watched this for a Gender Communication course and it was pretty insightful.

im seeing some of this movement on tiktok myself.....whats funny is the "toxic masculinity" kicks in instantly to fight against it

I was watching one girl and she was emotionally ranting to men about opening up and showing feelings and shit and I teared up....my hand immediately swiped that shit up and I thought "quit acting like a bitch" lmao

i know better but the shit is automatic sometimes

What’s good is you recognize it so next time you can take steps to be honest with your feelings vs dismissing them.

im more honest and comfortable with them than that.....i think it can still be inconvenient for us at times....like right then i was just chillin scrollin my phone so I ran from it lol....I didnt wanna be in the feels right then....thats probably some control shit tho

I rarely cry. Most adults rarely cry because ain’t that much shit to cry about.

when I see so extra fucked up shit happen because of racism or something happens to a child, my emotion is more of angry. I know some folks cry with those type of things.

Movies and documentaries mess me up pretty easily.

I cry at stupid shit like people overcoming odds in movies and shows. In actual real life, I’m more likely to become enraged than cry over something I should cry about
Same. I'll be a mess, lol.

"They came so far...they fought so hard..."

I was eventually going to make a thread on this and about defining masculinity.

Dude could have executed the message better but I love the movement. Going through therapy for years I realized alot of my mental trauma and issues with folks and myself was due to "manning" up and supressing shit and communication with others. I think this is what makes the foundation of toxic masculinity and I just find any logic outside of fear from others to why this shit should be justified and continued.

I think that it’s pushed too much in our hoods.
