I believe one of the reasons why because most of our people have/had a scarcity mindset. We were always taught to serve instead of own. That's a generational curse that hindered a lot of our generation

In essence I think this whole brand of capitalism altogether. But I’m not gonna shot on people living in it. It has its benefits and drawback and I ain’t lived under any other economic system. But this system ain’t fostering unity as we can see by this thread. I rather we not even have to wake up and worry about capital I rather not worry if med bills and insurance will cause me to go broke or if paying somebody 15 an hour is going to ruin a small business. Niggas in Canada ain’t worried bout health care moms in Norway ain’t worried about going back to work after 8 weeks with a newborn. Daycare being high as fuck.

And I get it maybe if we all worked together and made community more functional we could alleviate a lot of these issues.

I want my government ideally to do what they tax me for and more. No that ain’t simple or easy and maybe the US is too big for a wide social net. But when we view a wide social net as a way to be lazy we just gonna keep doing the same shit leaving somebody exploited. I feel we measure ourselves by the standards of outsiders when we could easily make our own.

Man capitalism and consumerism are designed to divide and oppress us. This might be another thread but even when we look at the words on a basic level... Capital insinuates that there is a top and there is a bottom. Consumerism is parasitic in relationship with nature. White cultures consume until everything is depleted then they move on to the next thing to deplete. We have adopted white culture with being consumers.

Think about it like this virtually every Native people's cultures have or had a symbiotic relationship with humanity, nature and the environment meaning I take and I give. Consumerism means all we do is take and capitalism just means we're the top dog of parasites. This economic system is definitely not fostering unity. At least not for US.

That was the point I was making. We can build to own all the shit we want but just like the streets if we not strong enough to protect it what we've built. The shit just going to keep getting taken or burnt down like it has in the past.

It's great to have all the book education, degrees and businesses but what is also just as important if not more so is having folks to protect it.

Be honest the so called upper class black people and politicians have villainized the physical fighting class of black people. All that has been preached for way too long and told to us is turn the other cheek, you don't want to get beat up or killed, just pray Jesus will take care of it, education is the only way, go along to get along and/or our time will eventually come.

So actually unless we have a complete 180 in our mindsets no we actually can't do the same.

Our current economic system creates competition both on a business and personal level. It's not about building together with our current economic system, it's about consuming and competing with everything within and without the system.

It engenders haves and have nots, rich and poor, power and oppression instead of freedom and everyone having plenty.

As far as "freedom" goes.... Freedom is the state of being free" how can anything be free in a society where nothing is free? Everything has a cost in our society and that's by choice because real freedom means everything is free.

So not only does our current economic system not foster unity it also creates the opposite of freedom.

And yes I believe in the sovereignty of a person, especially Black people and POC, so we should all be HNIC of our own lives and purpose.
