ABW Home Improvement (DIY, Hacks, etc...) Thread

Being a homeowner is fucking expensive

I spend so much money on little shit like outlets and covers for them on the exterior.

Got a whole side of my house that don't work cause I think too much moisture got into the sockets over time. You think my daughter gonna notice and say "thanks Dad for making sure I got power when I plug things up outside"

Nope 🥹

Thankfully mine already had covers on them.

Mine did too but two of them had individual covers on each outlet and over time, they snapped off leaving them exposed to the elements. I didn't bother to change them cause all 3 on the same circuit still worked.

Cut my backyard then brought out the blower and none of the outlets work.

The lone GFCI outlet light doesn't come on and it won't let me reset it despite power going to the circuit

Battery powered blower and trimmer FTW.

I left my wired joints in storage back in Vegas. I might toss 'em when I go back to get the rest of our stuff.

I been using my pops wired reciprocating saw and my electric generator to cut shit down around the crib. Gonna look into getting one of them edge trimmers and a hedge cutters next time im stateside. Iono if they have combo joints or something you can swap the attachment out but ima look into it

Yeah but I still need those outlets to work lol

This blower was a house warming present my mama got me when I got my first house lol

But I do need to make the cypher complete and get me a Ryobi joint to go with the rest of my Ryobi tools/batteries. I bought the Ryobi battery caddy charger thing too so I have one station to charge all my batteries

Some things just work better with power from the house.

Surprisingly my Ryobi electric pressure washer does pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty good.

I don't like have to constantly use gas for pressure washers. I think I'll always use gas for my mower though.

you ever try one of those Ryobi mowers? Iono what the power looks like on them joints but seems like folks that have one ryobi or battery powered tool tend to keep in that ecosystem

I can use electric for my yard 'cause I don't have much of a yard. That said, I do need to get a higher capacity battery to get through it without swapping batteries like I do now. I'm just not fond of having to pay a hunnid for a Ryobi high performance 4Ah battery and I'm not fond of the idea of copping one of the knockoff joints for cheaper.

Man my neighbor got one and his shit clunked out on him😂😂

He had to use my gas mower

Two of my neighbors have them. The cat next to me has the larger 18V mower and the broad across the street has one of the big joints, I think it's a 40V.

When I first bought my house I thought my shit was too hilly for a riding mower so I sold the one I had and got an electric push. After a summer of pushing close to an acre I got a zero turn and figured out real quick how to deal with the hills, lol.

All that to say, it was pretty good but I’d have to cut the front then wait for the battery to charge so my son could cut the back.

Gotta have multiple batteries.

Also... Ryobi now has a line of electric riding mowers

I could have, but my principles wouldn’t let me buy another expensive battery to use on the same equipment, lol. I had an Ego.

One of my neighbors has a zero turn rider like that. Seems to work good for him.

aite maybe these battery joints aint it. Borrowed a small chainsaw and the shit kept cutting out cuz the battery was overheating. Wouldnt have had that problem with a gas or a corded joint. Might just need a more powerful battery 🤔

Seems like it would work for a light job but some heavy duty shit it didnt last very long

Nah b, some things genuinely need gas. A chainsaw would be one of them.

Yeah mane

What koncept already said, some things just need that extra Tim the toolman Taylor horsepower

I JUST cut this gotdamn grass yo!

:niggaa:

It has been raining alot tho.. lol

Cut mine over the weekend. I'm hoping that was the last time for the season.

Still need to get out there with the trimmer but I ran out of line and I can't find the stuff I bought for it.

Im gonna be looking for a trimmer soon. You know of any where you dont gotta fuss with all the line when its time to replace it? They have joints with strings or blades if im not mistaken right?
