Okay now watch this

Tell me why the blazers had to overpay for grant after they drafted scoot, Rupert, and Kris Murray with sharpe and simons already on the roster?

Also It’s not hate lol

Billups just isn’t good

Him and Cronin won’t be around in 2 years anyways

Belee dat

They also shut dame down that’s on them
Rupert, Murray, and to an extent, Sharpe are all unproven players. If you are trying to convince Dame you are not rebuilding, you don't trot Rupert and Murray out there yet. Who were they gonna give the money to? Nobody is coming to Portland and that roster in free agency.

Yeah but the point I’m making is, you don’t commit to grant unless you are trying to compete

With ushering in a youth movement with an inexperienced coach you aren’t trying to compete right now so signing grant to a 160 mil contract isn’t smart

You keep trying to run with this nobody wants to play in Portland angle so you have to overpay but the blazers didn’t even try to sign multiple players for that money they gave grant for less years

Remember they gave that money to grant in the first hour or so of FA

The blazers thought they could draft scoot and keep Dame with grant and run two timelines at once like with FVV/Lowry after the championship hence the fence riding angle

Their hands were tied either way. Dame said he didn't wanna be part of a rebuild but the team was already young as hell. So I guess their thinking was we gotta keep the vets we have and try to compete and make this nigga Dame happy. Hence the Grant signing. Besides he's the only PF on the team as of right now. I already said I wouldn't have signed Grant but I get why they did. I wouldn't have traded Scoot to make Dame happy bcuz what if the trade didn't work and a year later Dame still wants out? Then you have neither one on the roster.

I can't defend any of these niggas contracts. Way too much money is being dished out left and right to a bunch of regular niggas.

They werent tied they were arrogant thinking Dame was going to continue to be okay with the shitty way they put talent around him

They should’ve traded Dame during the draft

A trade around this time would’ve created a more robust trade market and you don’t feel compelled so sign grant that straps your flexibility

And this is another reason why Cronin is not long for Portland

Edit: saying nobody wants to go to Portland which is why they felt like they had to give grant that deal is defending it bruv

Hmm talent that that’s enough to make dame stay
Other than the Scoot pick, what tradeable assets did they have that would have improved the team? Remember it takes two willing partners to complete a trade.

Their last playoff team they had..

Covington
Enes
Hood
CJ
Powell
Simons
Trent Jr.

That "talent" was good enough for a first round exit. Simons is the only one left. After seeing all this play out, Dame still signs the extension but Jerami Grant is his breaking point. lol

Don’t worry I’m about to do you a favor and circumvent everything lol

Okay so you’re saying there was no way to realistically improve the team enough around Dame

Then they should’ve traded him

I never said they shouldn't have. I'm saying he shouldn't signed the extension if he thought better days were coming.

OK. Tell me how you would have improved the team. Realistically.
