Chicago, LA, Maryland, Seattle, New Jersey, Texas, Georgia, and Indiana have ALL put out better talent then them the past 20 years that’s why it got quiet in that doc once you got to the early 2000’s lmao. There’s no standout high school or college team in the city, mawfuckas holding onto past history
You named 3 cities + mad whole states
But I think the Mecca talk got it’s wires crossed a long time ago. Off of active/recent talent they been lost that. They still be trying to hold on too but it is what it is.
if it’s off of just hallowed ground it’s still them and that’s not something that just switches.
I know the joke is how opposing players light up the Knicks in the garden but that leads credence to the point. If someone drops 50 on the bulls it’s not he dropped 50 in the United center! It’s not a person did that in Chicago thing it’s just a career night. Likewise if someone goes crazy on the clippers or lakers in Staples/Crypto. It’s just he had a night and it’s over. It’s a big deal when it’s the garden, players ears perk up too. It just is what it is.
Only other court with similar vibes in the league is Boston Garden/TD Garden although it’s not quite the same as the OG Boston Garden but Boston doesn’t have the street ball culture rep that nyc does.
The Most notable street court there is is Rucker.
Talent is definitely a Chicago/LA/DMV battle.
