2018 NFL Season Thread

Sean Payton spoke in more detail about his belief that the NFL office tried to have him fired after the Bountygate scandal in 2012 and said Roger Goodell's punishments of him and the Saints were "foolish" during a lengthy interview for an upcoming episode of "In Depth with Graham Bensinger." Payton had previously mentioned his belief that the NFL wanted him fired, but he specified with Bensinger that late Saints owner Tom Benson told him he had gotten calls from two other NFL owners encouraging him to do so. Payton didn't name the two owners, but he said he made a point to track them down at a league event after his season-long suspension to "thank them for their support." Payton compared the NFL to "a large political party" with an agenda and said the accusations against the Saints were "brutal" and "rigged."
