“im proud my wife is white” 1st Black head coach in UNC history gets dragged

“Hubert Davis UNC Chapel Hill's 1st Black Head Coach in History: "I'm proud my wife is white"

Hubert Davis has just been selected as a head coach for Chapel Hill, a school which has the racist history of having enslaved Afrikans build their university, as well as having a staunchly white pantheon of head coaches.

Hubert Davis was selected as it's "1st Black Men's Basketball Head coach", and in his speech he stated the following:

"I know that it is significant that I'm the fourth African American head coach in any sport in the history of the university, I'm very proud to be African American... But I'm also very proud my wife is white, and I'm very proud that my three beautiful kids are a combination of both of us"

He stated "he was proud his wife is white", as if it was an accolade or accomplishment and furthermore it echos his proximity of whiteness as a measure of success. Nearly everytime the "first Black person" in any position in a white dominated institution is selected, they are a bona-fide assimilationist who has been handpicked to be a veneer to reflect pseudo "diversity and inclusion".

Lol I feel white spouses do t wanna hear that shit I know she cringed

Cant imagine the back bending he had to do to prove to the UNC elite that he was a fitting replacement. Had to be nervous.

At the same time, a black woman would have had him running that speech by PR beforehand because she'd be damned if he embarrassed her sounding like an idiot on tv.

Tough break, nigga...

All Hubert saying some dumb shit aside, y'all going to stop slandering my team out here, lol.

We'll be back on top soon, just watch.

How much u donating to the boosters? Cuz UNC s recruiting been putrid
Didn’t actually go to UNC Chapel Hill, went to UNCG but been a Tarheel fan my whole life.

Even if I did though I wouldn't be giving shit back, they make enough from sports alone to cover the whole school. And especially considering players can't get paid.

But as far as recruiting, that whole cheating scandal set us way back. Players wasn't trying to commit to a school that might be suspended for a season or so.

NBA career
The New York Knicks selected Davis with the 20th overall pick in the 1992 NBA Draft. He made the winning free throws after Hue Hollins called a disputed foul against Scottie Pippen in Game 5 of the 1994 Eastern conference semifinals against the Chicago Bulls, giving the Knicks an 87-86 win.[citation needed]

Davis remained with New York for four years, and was traded to the Toronto Raptors prior to the 1996-97 season. After Toronto, Davis spent time with the Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons and New Jersey Nets. Davis played his final NBA game in 2004, finishing with career averages of 8.2 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.[citation needed] Davis's nearly 44.1% NBA career three-point shot percentage ranks him second behind Steve Kerr.[2]
