Akon: Africans no longer care about slavery but African Americans still blame the past

Before Akon said this

For decades folks being saying this about how Africans view black Americans.

I had folks from Africa saying their parents feel that same way. They feel black Americans are lazy and shit.

Ok and the point is what? I don’t even see why we take the criticism seriously. Africans couldn’t keep they shit together and that’s why we here and that’s why they come here

I'm not sure how i can add to this convo....Or even where to start.

Everyone is right and wrong.
I'll explain when I get to my laptop.

It's not just africans tho, most immigrants be on that shit.

They arrived in the states after black americans already did all the work, opened all the doors for yall mfs to benefit from and then have the audacity to judge the condition of black americans.

Meanwhile yall still can trace your whole family tree back, you have the option to go back "home" whenever you want. We don't have a history, we don't have a home. What you're seeing is the result of hundreds of years of slavery.

Akon saying "black americans need to get over it" pissed me df off.
..And... immigrants come here desperate taking over jobs that're in the process of protest for living wages. construction, retail, service sector, you name it. 4-5-6 families living in a 2 bedroom house with 16 cars parked in the yard and double parked along the street. that immigrant shit is only good for wreaking economic havoc among the citizen civilians.

Why would you care about slavery when you took an active part it?

It's easy to be "past" something when you committed wrongdoing with that thing.

This vid is so infuriating.

Fuck Akon.

The new wave in slavery discourse of the 21st century seems to be attributing slavery and its effects on “Africa” and all “Africans”. 5 million people were held in bondage being raped, tortured and exploited in 1850. Akon or “Africa” had nothing to do with that.

That said, Akon is very much part of the motivational social media negro community that uses the ability to circumvent systemic racism as a flex (against other Blacks stifled by said system) thereby accepting it as a norm. That’s what we see here.

This is because the people who pay those types (Vlad in this case) are also actively involved in suppressing slavery, that’s why he points to African ‘tribes’ as being the perpetrators but not the White slave raiders, pirates and re-enslavers of the new world. That’s to say nothing of the colonial governments that were forced to operate slave posts and capital markets that flourished on the trade.
