Trick Williams is one of the hottest stars in WWE, but in NXT, he has quickly become one of the top babyfaces on the brand through his storyline with Carmelo Hayes.

Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan has learned that despite discussions about possibly bringing Williams up to the main roster in the upcoming WWE draft, NXT sources tell Brennan that barring a last minute change of mind, Williams is no longer under consideration to be drafted to RAW or SmackDown in the upcoming event. However, main roster officials remain high on Williams.

In asking about a reason why Williams’ is not on his way to the main roster, Brennan was told that Williams is planned to be a focal point of NXT programming post Draft. In asking what will come after, Brennan was told that there have been pitches for a summer feud with Dijak, but that remains up in the air due to Dijak’s current contract status.

NXT sources also tell Brennan that Williams has long been seen as a future star by NXT officials, dating as far back as 2022. In talking with several NXT talent about Williams, Trick was described as a quick learner, has a strong work ethic and was described as “an exceptional talent” to work with.
An interesting note for those unfamiliar is that per production sources in NXT, Trick Williams’ now very popular theme music is actually stock music that wasn’t being used at the time of his debut.

Williams is set to challenge for the NXT Title on next week’s Spring Breakin’ edition of NXT, but should he lose, he will be forced to leave NXT.

Sean Ross Sapp spoke with numerous staff on the WWE main roster who have had their eye on Trick Williams for years. He first worked a Smackdown dark match in 2021, and the company knew he had a ways to go in the ring, but by late 2022 he was being brought back up to work Main Event. Those we've spoken to say he was always well received backstage, and he's been brought to Raw or Smackdown about once a quarter to do matches or segments.

NXT and main roster sources we spoke to said that they haven't seen Williams plateau as of yet, and they believe time as the face of NXT could serve him well.
