Welcome To aBlackWeb

All this deep discussion, Easter egg, and theory shit aside, movie was alright

I didn't need to rush to see this and it was cool but it's a great step in the right direction
Aight Written, Produced and Directed by Beta.
What would you have done differently to make it better from your pov?

I’m interested in hearing your westworld comparisons...
I caught the westworld vibes too but I thought maybe I was reaching lol.

Like the whole copying humans to be able to control them but not being able to figure out how copy consciousness, or souls the way Us puts it. Red Lupita wants to lead the rest of the clones, like the robots in westworld, to ultimately just get free. She's seen both worlds, above and below, and knows everybody below never got a chance to experience anything the people above did.

The robots in westworld slowly start to understand that they're actually more human than the humans and the line blurs so much that you cant argue it. In westworld theres also the idea of transferring consciousness. So you can take one robot's brain and put it in another body and they're the same person. In Us, the humans and clones are both humans so like with Addy, you can take a clone and put them among humans and they can mimic it/assimilate. We're not static so one person in a certain environment can be a completely different person in another environment.

Also theres a part in s2 where all the robots die and are floating in the water at the beach...there was a part in Us where the clones are standing in the water at the beach holding hands.

In westworld you have themed amusement parks, and in US you have the fair.

both have clones or what WW calls hosts/humanoid robots there.

Red is kind of like Delores. The female lead who leads the clones to freedom

They both deal with "Is this person a real person or a clone/host?"

The park is only there to make money not for the customers amusement and want to collect their likeness just like the fair

They both deal with class and the suppressed and control.

I'm not bashing anyone for their opposing views. I think there are 3 types of people who saw this film

Group A. Based on some prior knowledge of peele's work, you go into it thinking, what are the symbolisms at play. What is it as the viewer, that at a minimum level, he wants me to get from this film vs what he wants me to come to my own conclusion about

Group B. Saw the movie to see if the hype was warranted. Didn't really try to do too much thinking and at a surface level, just wanted to be entertained.

Group C. People that typically like movies/art to have flashing neon signs to tell them every single thing they were supposed to take away from the film. The reactions are going to range from meh to this didn't make sense at all.

Damn I ain’t even pick up on it

This could also explain some of the mixed reviews cause westworld season 2 caught heat lol

Group D: Fuck Niggas

Peele has said that he wants ppl to take whatever message they want from it from the options he gives

That's why the some of the promo pics and video trailers have a Rorschach paint blot

it could be about the homeless, minorities, self hate, being your own enemy, actual cloning conspiracies,a fairy tale, a straight forward horror movie etc

I also could see the tethered being Trump supporters

He already said in the marketing that this movie is entirely up to interpretation. There was a video of him reading internet theories about Get Out and he said while some were right, most were wrong and purely a matter of coincidence.

He's intelligent enough to know that his name is now synonymous with high conceptual film making after just one movie so now all he has to do is write anything with typical tropes because the viewing audience is going to watch whatever version of the movie in their heads that will make it better than what he actually put on screen.

This was the movie equivalent of Yeezus.

anybody else catch jason eating fruit loops without milk at the white familys house like ol girl from get out? i’m sure there’s nothing significant behind it but i thought it was amusing

i also liked how he was wearing a jaws shirt while at the beach. Lupita’s character was on edge the entire time they were there, similar to brody being on edge at the beach in jaws right before the shark ate that little boy
