i agreee with all that,,,
it's just these niggaz killing me
@King Du must be a DC fan or something. lol Nigga, why you so mad that black people are excited to see this movie?
shut upMeteorman was fantasy.
Darryl Walker was a REAL hero tryna fix his neighborhood using his mind.
@King Du
@Playmaker88
This aint up for debate
i'm repping tough in the black lightning thread... i asked why didn't it get the same hype despite the same number of black images...Du would lose his mind over a Static Shock or Black Vulcan movie. Be over there kicking boxes and making electricity noises and shit.
Blankman >>> Meteorman

i guess cuz it's dealing with relatable community issues, and it's not in some mystical fantasy land in another continent..it's not trendy enough....
i remember when luke cage came out and i was pumped on how they was comparing black aughrs of a lotta books i personally read, and how luke cage had a walter mosley book in his lap in one of the trailers...
niggaz don't get hype abotu shit like that....u know.... regular shit....
they want Wakanda
i liked luke cage, i like the netflix series as a whole.. i like them better than the MCUMy issue with Luke Cage is that it's Netflix only. If it was on a regular ass cable channel I'da been watching it religiously. I'm happy Marvel is doing something with him although a Power Man and Iron Fist movie with a full blown MCU treatment would be many levels of dopeness above the Netflix series.

yea, but the community still has issues, and black people have a lost sense of community,...That's part of the flaw here. Black movies and tv shows always gotta deal with "community issues". I came up in the hype after the civil rights movement, when Panthers were still somewhat active though splintered and community activist groups would regularly meet in my home since my stepfather was THE figurehead in the Black community around Saginaw, Mi. I've marched, I've helped feed the hungry around the city, I've done a lot as a kid growing up in that environment. As an adult I've tried my best to get more young Black men and Women to get into STEM fields and put struggling folks up on to legal ways of putting dollars in their pockets to hold them over.
40-some odd years later, maybe a nigga just wants a little fantasy for once.
this post was pointless.well, fwiw, i just havent seen this weeks episode, so i dont wanna be in that thread being spoiled, but i left my impressions about the first episode
shrugs

I get the whole “be whatever you want to be” argument. But once again we need to get off the idea of symbolism but symbolism hasn’t gotten black people nowhere collectively.
excuses...Black Lighting not getting BP praise ain't got shit to do w/ "niggas not being hyped about a show dealing with relatable community issues"
It might have something to w/ the fact that CW and DC did a shitty job promoting it cuz I didn't see previews for that show until maybe a month before it was to premiere.
Because black people love the idea of symbolism. That’s like jews celebrating the building of a Jewish museum in the heart of the holocaust. How is Obama becoming president meaningful for black people?
