Should Pastors drive luxury cars?

Yes. All so-called religious leaders are con-artists on at least some level. Might as well flaunt it.

But also churches need to start paying taxes.

This is the same dude that locked the doors of his megachurch during Harvey, right? Sounds like his congregation is in a one-sided relationship but that's not my business.

Politicians racketeering the same way you’d envision the highly successful mainstream prosperity people are, just legally. Committed to commission not service

I hate pocket watching, but their car should resemble the cars the community they churching at.... It's a bad look to stunt on your congregation....I couldn't see myself at a church where the pastor driving a 100k+ car

"don't stunt on your congregation but fuk dem otha niggas"

:hahaha:

In what other calling in life are people held to the standard of if everybody around you can't afford what you can then you shouldn't buy said item?

Weird situation all around but to me I mean the tithes thing with these huge televised churches it's people's choice to give money or not. It's a choice to support it or not but them mfs are clearly hustling their congregation.

Proverbs 30:7-9

7 “Two things I ask of you, Lord;
do not refuse me before I die:
8 Keep falsehood and lies far from me;
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread.
9 Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you
and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’

Or I may become poor and steal,
and so dishonor the name of my God.

Matthew 6:19-24

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,[a] your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy,[b] your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Mark 10:17-25

17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’[a]”

20 “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”

21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

22 At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.

23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!”

24 The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it is[b] to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

I mean... There's a few more I could pull out, but you get the jist: Wealth and God don't go hand in hand.

Being a pastor is a job just like anything else is a job. I don't see how a nigga being passionate about medicine, growing up to be a doctor and being very well paid to do that job is any different than a nigga being passionate about God, growing up to be a pastor and being paid very well to do THAT job.

It's not like the Bible says people shouldn't be rich. God himself made sure Solomon was stupid rich. Like God's expressed intent was to make Solomon so rich that all the other rulers in the world wanted to be like him. That said, God did that because Solomon didn't ask for riches. He asked for the wisdom and insight necessary to be a good ruler to the people.

The point is that it's not really out of line for religious leaders to live lives of luxury if that's what comes their way. However, if a pastor is out here making moves in his life based on what's going to be the most profitable for him or just flat out stunting, he/she probably ain't living right.

It quite literally does and I've given three passages that state that. There's more in there too, I'm just too lazy to pull 'em up right now.

Nothing you put is a directive against being rich, and it would be silly to say that the Bible is against being rich when, as I pointed out, God rewarded many people in the Bible with riches.

But let's go through a few of your examples.

Proverbs 30:7-9

7 “Two things I ask of you, Lord;
do not refuse me before I die:
8 Keep falsehood and lies far from me;
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread.
9 Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you
and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’

Or I may become poor and steal,
and so dishonor the name of my God.

This is not a directive against being rich. It is Solomon saying that he doesn't need extremes because he doesn't want them to lead him away from God. I don't know when he wrote that particular proverb, but if you know his story you understand why he wrote that. He was given riches, and then wound up building temples to other gods to make his wives happy.

Again, this is not a directive against being rich. It's about the commitment to becoming rich. Jesus is saying that you shouldn't obsess over acquiring money and material goods. He's not saying that you're in the wrong if over the course of your life you are blessed to receive material goods.

You did what a lot of people do and left out an important part of the story. The very next set of verses are:

26 The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?”

27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

Jesus is telling them that being rich makes it hard almost impossible to live the type of life that will get you into heaven (for the very reasons mentioned in the proverbs verses you quoted earlier). However, Jesus makes it clear that with God, it's not actually impossible.

Again, the Bible does not condemn being rich. It condemns a focus on pursuing riches and a love for money.[/quote]
