Pretty sure they have the same or similar machines and it takes cash or card. If your card is damaged you can get a new one as well

Who still uses the booth operators? There are machines for this. That’s how I paid for my MTA cards.

This move makes sense, but they should’ve given an adequate phase-out time, of 4-6 months so people could properly adjust and adapt.

I dont think they should get rid of all of the booths...not all at once anyway... and if they do they should have people by the machines at least to assist some of the elderly who may be confused by the machines initially.

This type of automation will continue to happen though and more jobs will be lost to automation. Universal Basic Income will HAVE to happen eventually due to automation theres no way around it IMO

i honestly didn't even know booth agents handled damaged cards. years ago when i had damaged card i mailed in it anyways, and got a new one (4-6 weeks later). in the meantime i just bought a new card. don't see what's do complicated about that.

So do they still have the machines that can take money and give you a card or not? If they do, then there is no problem here. If they are taking away all cash options and doing it in a sudden manner that will make it difficult for some people to travel for a while, that's messed up.
