OPINION oh boy here we go again

how does “participating” in capitalism afford ppl better access to healthcare? when countless americans work and still cant afford hospital bills or co pays

u really think the quality of healthcare is not affected by financial resources?

where do u think these financial resources come from?

and ironically the American healthcare system does not operate based on a true capitalist system

funny that u focus on that as argument for why capitalism is bad

My only issue with upcharging your people is the obligatory guilt trip presented if someone expresses it's out their price range.

Like I'm never one to buy shit ONLY to support. There has to be an initial want or need for your product.

And I might be willing to pay more if I like what's in front of me. But if you upcharging like 200-300% and the quality reflects the price in no way.... I'm highly insulted if you still feel I'm obligated...

Like fuck that....

I never said "prospered"

I said "brought people up"

there is a difference................

however the quality of life for everyone has vastly improved under capitalism

and property rights being a foundation for capitalism is what has allowed black people to choose to live the way they want

the quality of life has not improved for everyone under capitalism nor does property rights = socioeconomic advancement/mobility of Black ppl.

again, “the pillars that uphold capitalism include owning private property - it’s a way to consistently amass wealth above all others. now, when that’s coupled with systemic factors like race...

you have a continued system of capitalism that works in favor of those few folks (mainly white) who amassed wealth via ownership of land and property then subsequently passed down through generations and/or hoarded into tax shelters”

this keeps Blacks and indigenous ppl on the bottom of the socioeconomic totem pole

Black ppl, out of all races, fair the worst under capitalism due to racism and other policies and sys strategically designed to keep us out of the “competition”

bro you just made a thread about poverty in America and all y’all commented on it. But capitalism which lead to poverty is the best way for us to come up? Or you just trolling because you don’t have a POV?

but see abolishment requires you to be deeply passionate about others and have a large imagination, sadly we live in a very hyper individualized society.

i dont care to have something if that means a whole lot of ppl will go without.

i also dont eat, sleep, and dream labor. i dont romanticize productivity. especially when the only way someone can get to the top is by exploitating those at the bottom.

it has less to do with “work ethic” and more to do with ones access to resources.

nobody in a position of power is smarter than you and i nor do they work harder than you and i and thats the schtick. this idea that if you work hard and grind hard you will be rich and in turn so will your family and their family and so on and so forth but thats rarely the case. its very hard to transcend social classes for one but for two “six” ppl being saved from the throes of capitalism means nothing, when you live a society where a large percentage of ppl are starving, attend poor schools, dont have safe housing, dont have clean water etc

ppl have more in common with the janitor than the ceo of the company they work for but when you live in a society that focuses on money more than anything else, the janitor is shunned while the true villain ( the ceo) keeps you on the hamster wheel chasing a green dollar.

but hey! i think folks would be better off working towards abolition than praying to god to become a millionaire or billionaire

plus one is far more realistic than the other

i mean....this aint wrong lol

but its more to do with just who you are as a person....most people are just not that passionate about this particular thing, honestly

I may just be a blind capitalist pawn, because I need money mane:sayword:

like i dont know what else to do with this lol

i've been in those positions you mentioned (starving, poor schools, safe housing)....and I've never prayed for money

you're a good person @Race ......but you need money too....i know you'll probably tell me you'd live off the grid and make your own deodorant before you took a bigger cut than your employees, but you like nice things....you want your family to have shit....and if you want everybody else to have that shit too there's nothing wrong with that....in fact, those kinda people make great ceo's...they wanna put people on

you can have this energy and still be about your coins.....i dont know much about you or what your motivations are, but I see your vision and wish you well in your journey

here's the thing.....with your personality and passion, whatever you do im positive you're gonna end up with a bag anyway....when that time comes and you're feeling all paid and icky and gross :umf:

what are you gonna do with it?

American capitalism is trash. A mixed system like the practice in the Scandinavian countries would be much better for everyone except the exploiters at the top, and even they would still be in good shape.

That said, I'm not really sure why anyone is faulting blacks for using the system at their disposal. Are we supposed to hamper ourselves because the nation's system is fucked up?

Surprised no one has pointed out that this thread was made using an iPhone

ahh the ol’ you have an iphone excuse so, therefore, you cant critique the sys where those that sell their labor in making it can barely afford to buy one.

anywho, its undeniable that we live in a capitalist consumerist society, participating in buying products is inevitable sooo what’s your point???

plus the cell phone is a communist invention :/

As it's been stated already...human corruption and greed is the underlying problem.

No matter the system of government you choose... there will be some form of corruption and greed involved. I'm not sure what kind of utopia yall anti-capitalists think exists where there is a level playing field for everyone. Would be great if there was.. but let's try to operate from reality here

if you using the sys at your disposal only reinforces social and economic ills that keeps the majority of Black ppl funneled into prisons, murdered by the state, barred from quality healthcare services etc

why arent you pushing for abolishment?

I think the point is that you're participating in capitalist consumerism but faulting the chick in the OP for participating in consumerism. You make valid points against capitalism. I think you could have just made those points without singling one person out and faulting them for doing nothing more than trying to play the hand she was dealt.

a lot of folks idea of liberation is just having the ability to do what colonizers do and nothing to do with actual “freedom”

you've made this profound statement before just worded differently...and i quoted it then

the shit really hit me in the head because its true, i couldnt agree more

you goddamn right I want that lol.....I daydream about whole communities of uppity black folks, spending money and living life care free, gasping and clutching their pearls when a non person of color walks in their establishments

excuse me, do you work here?
