Welcome To aBlackWeb

"Alternative" Black People. Let's talk about it.

no such thing as an alterntive black person lol

them niggas got the same likelyhood of getting gunned down for jogging as any other "regular" black person

you think Ahmaud would have been safe if he shouted

"DONT SHOOT I LIKE ANIME AND COUNTRY MUSIC!!!"

Completely agree...im all for these niggas livin their life however they want.

The problem is when you live in an alternate reality and then try to pontificate others on how blacks should behave with other races these days. Usually have some drivel about a "post racial" society.

Again, definitely not all but enough...

There like the counterbalance to the "hoteps"...but at least these types dont go out of the way to shit on successful black people and produce something of value other than monenitizing their youtube channels

We are not a monolithic people, I remember going to Comic Con in 2018 at the Jacob Javitz center in Manhattan and seeing a lot of Black people there and lot was in Cosplay, this one brotha was dressed up like Vegeta(Classic Blue and Yellow saiyan armor ) but had his hair done up (80's hairstyle) like Prince from Purple Rain.

Alternative can be applied for multiple meanings of blackness but I define it as a black person who goes against standard traditions of urban culture. How do you guys feel about individuals like:

Chance the Rapper
Tyler the Creator
My guy @genocide_cutter
Pharrell
Childish Gambino
FKA Twigs
Doja Cat
Logic

Etc .

Also why do you guys think individuals like this are not "fully" accepted into the black community?

The "too black for the white kids, too white for the black kids" crowd can also defend themselves also.
But... black culture isn't urban culture

Btw we can add Thundercat to this. Can't see this nigga being invited to the hood kickback in Atlanta, Chicago, or Florida

Why not? Like why do most black folks find this type of energy wack, corny, or uncomfortable? Is it the fear of the unknown?

It doesn't come off cool and/or it feels weird and most ppl are ashamed to be themselves because it may not fit popular or main stream culture... to answer the question

Big fan of Thundercat, ironically I only heard of him because of Kendrick.

One of the best TV performances I've ever seen, I even like it more than the studio version.
