“Alfredo “Dr Sebi” Bowman was either a complete fool or a complete fraud, but he was far from a healer. He routinely used the occurrence of systemic racism to play off the guilt of Black skeptics, implying that a white man with the same pseudo science would be welcomed with open arms. He took advantage of the collective insecurities of the Black race, arguing that it wasn’t his product that was ineffective, it was Black peoples lack of faith in other Black people. He fanned the separation between working class and wealthy Black people, implying that Black Hollywood had rejected him because they didn’t want to see Black people healthy and not because his pseudo science had been debunked all over the globe.”

Umar received his PhD in clinical psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2012. Nobody would question that if he was white or if he was Black but kept his Pan African thoughts to himself.

And before y'all pile on, he was vindicated of everything put against him a coupla years ago:

"...His credentials working for the School District of Philadelphia have been verified, as well as his 2012 PhD in clinical psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, but he referred to himself as “doctor” for years before that..."

If my memory is correct, didnt people question if he was a real doctor and instead of providing proof right away (like most people would), he just ducked and dodged the question for years. Much like he does with the majority of the questions about his school.

Dr. Sebi shit is baffling to me. IDK why people embrace him and his kids like they do when, their father presented himself as a doctor when in fact he wasnt. He claims he never told people he was a doctor, they just started calling him that. But when he advertises his shit, it says "Dr. Sebi" on it. Like come the fuck on. No one seems to question the family about this in interviews.

but why even question that in the first place?

I don't know enough about the whole Dr Sebi shits to even answer. A few people I know swear dude was the truth, I just couldn't be bothered enough to give a fuck. As far as I'm concerned, "Dr Sebi" is pretty much a brand name at this point.

I cant give you a quote since it was a long time ago. But basically he was saying a bunch of wild shit you wouldnt expect from someone whos a doctor and doing shit that seemed like he was a fraud. Basically the flaky shit he's doing on video now, in that other thread. Except he wasnt as brazen as he is now, since back then he wasnt really getting money like that and just starting the donation thing.

IMO it was fraud that evolved into a brand. And all "Dr" Sebi mostly says, is eat healthier shit. Its nothing ground breaking at all.

When you go to the doctor and you get diagnosed with high cholesterol or diabetes, they're gunna tell you to change your diet. Then they say "here some meds to help, but its not going to solve the problem", but this is American, the lazy of the lazy and quick fixes. So people only hear, "Take these pills and you wont have to lift a finger to change shit". Then they keep going back to their doctor complaining about the same issues, and the doctor has to shake their head and have the exact same convo with them, that they've been having for years.

The only difference between Sebi and real doctors is he claims his fruits and berries can cure fucking everything and thinks every disease is the result of diet and mucus. Thats how he almost went to prison in NYC in the 80s. He put ads in flyers saying he could cure HIV&AIDS for $500 the first visit and like $50 for every visit after that. He preyed on desperate people, took a bunch of their money and gave them some herbs and fruit smoothies.

Stop it with the bold. White people have their credentials questioned all the time. They are just quick to present them so it doesn't turn into a thing like it did with Umar. You're crazy if you think that a white dude could go up to a bunch of rich white people asking for money without presenting the necessary credentials.

Fam... White boys was literally gettin millions in funding for start-ups through impromptu elevator meetings with ideas scrawled on scrap paper. No credentials, just an idea and a pitch.

Black people do that too. If you have an actual idea for something that can just be created and pushed, all you need is someone who sees merit in that idea or understands it well enough to know whether or not it can work. That's different from coming up with a school that needs proper management, resourcing, curricula, and a bunch of other shit that requires a certain knowledge and skill set. If a white person went up to a bunch of white donors, and say "I want to make a specialized school for your children to go to, send me money," the first thing they would be asked is what makes you think you can do such a thing. Where do you go to school. You're not going to tell me that's not the case because I've worked in academia and the government, and I seen white people laugh at other white people just because they had the gall to propose something and not be from an Ivy League school.

All of that shit applies to business. What makes you think you can run a business just because you have an idea? It'll need proper management, resourcing, etc. The product just changes, that's all, the rest of it as it applies to business is still needed.

Since when you need credentials to pitch an idea to a investor?

that's kinda the point. You have an idea with zero credentials and you approach someone for literal millions in funding and might just get it depending on how compelling you are with making a case that you'll return a profit.
