Welcome To aBlackWeb

I liked James Bond being a male James Bond and doing all the things a male James Bond did. Pierce Brosnan was my favorite of the bunch. And yeah, it is time the character retired and passed the mantle.

Not sure if I'll be able to get into a female version of 007. I'm old school, I guess. As a man, I prefer stories with men as protagonist.

I'm also against the idea of superficial attempts at diversity with swapping iconic characters. Can't be for stuff like this then get mad when/if they pull the same stunt with a character like T'Challa.

I really wish you fuckers would stop saying this horseshit.

My man Idris is perfect for the 007 role. Fuck anybody else. Male or Female, Female or Male.
Pretty sure in an interview he said he did not want the role. Dude is like the only black male that both black and white people can agree on doing the role

Idris either got turned down quietly, or he got offered Lashana's role and said fuck that.
He's not going to be James bond.

Idris would be dope but I think he's too old. He'll be 48 when Bond 25 comes out, so if he was the next Bond he'd probably be at least 50 when they started shooting. I think these films are too physically demanding at this point, unless they bring it back to the 60's where there's less action and more plot, but I don't think modern fans would like that.

Lol I don’t think she’s going to be James Bond she’s just going to inherit the 007 title. Do y’all really expect to see her to bring down a group of Russians?

They don't but she's black so all reason goes out the window. 57 years and 26 films be damned.

I respect the hell out of your response because you didn't beat around the bush why you might not like it.

In the comics Shuri takes over the mantle as Black Panther for awhile so it isn't something that was too far out of the realm of possiblity for the comics why should it be for a movie?

As far as the 007 thing I don't think them casting a minority female should be looked at as a superficial attempt at diversity unless the writing is lazy and uninspired. It's also a different situation than if they casted a totally different race for the person playing Black Panther because the story of the character and it's origins are so tied to the main character being a black person from that fictional isolated country.

A great writer might be able to pull off race swapping Black Panther but it's a lot harder to do than 007 in my opinion.

So James Bond “retires “ or fakes his death....the black chick is 008 then James Bond is asked to return and has to work w 008 until one of them dies

I haven't intentionally watched a Bond flick since The Living Daylights.

... might be time to change that.
