Breaking News Youth in Nigeria have taken to the streets to protest police brutality #EndSARS

Every time we go to Lagos our ppls our there make sure we get military escorts straight off the plane

Bypassing customs and everything

Escort us from the plane to the crib to protect us from wolves and cops lol

Shit got me listening to Fela this am..... Nigerian military killed his moms and tried to end him too

My mum and her siblings all marvel at the fact that i bump Fela's music.

What's your fav tho? Depending on my mood it's either 'water get no enemy' or 'expensive shit'

Water gets no enemy is in my top 5 favorite joints....love that he spent some time in the States and briefly worked w JB which helped shape his music and afrobeats

I’ve always wanted to start a clothing brand called kalakuta republic

Nigerian Army/police always been on some bullshit
My people over there call the police Black Devils.

The first time i went to Lagos with my family we were on our way to the beach. Van load of people. Two of my cousins are mixed race (which as far as the cops were concerned meant they were white). They stopped the van and wouldnt let us carry on until we gave them some money because they thought that us rolling with 'white people' meant we had to have something for them. Corrupt all the way from the top to the bottom.

In fact that's got to be the most common phrase in the country "do you have something for me"

that’s just West African fuckery honestly when I lived back home like police would post up on the expressway and pull over “ nice cars” and request a bribe to let u go....shit used to happen to us weekly

I actually say this same thing. Quite a bit.
But most people don't leave their bubble so they have no idea what you mean .

It's a big world that can get small very quick.

And a bunch of people don't understand their privilege .
Was just talking to my girl about it. She's also Naija. She has no fam over there she can trust if she wanted to go back and live there, neither do I. So we're 'stuck' here in a white man's country where we know this isn't our land either. We feel stateless!

Even worse when it's the motherland. That's supposed to be our safe haven

True. It is something I genuinely think about a lot; where is our safe haven!? Shit, I feel the same for Trinidad. The police there to is corrupt, and the drive by lane by bum ass criminals occurs frequently.
Real unfortunate ppl is treated like this, especially in Nigeria ??.
A power tripping man with guns is dangerous. And more dangerous when backed by higher ups.

The question is why does being a cop turn people into animals.

I knew about this but never brought it up.

Police everywhere are the same basically.

when I was over in Lagos, they didn’t respect the cops. One night we was out smoking one, a cop rolled up n they ain’t even put it out. Cop asked us for a bottle of water n the Nigerians laughed at him.

this was in 2011...

I wonder if what is happening in Nigeria will come up in the final Presidential debate which is on Foreign policy

It was one of my reservations about moving to Belize. I heard expats that look like me are often target by the cops for bribes.
And this is my issue about a lot of things......We are targeted more than white people with money by our own.
It's like people see white people as some higher power and no one will care about your black ass. So I'll Rob you for $10 vs robbing a white person for $1000.
But if you kill they ass.....You in the wrong.

Shits frustrating. Then you got dumb asses that say shit like I don't like black people. Just can't be I don't like the shit we do to each other when we already gotta fight against the rest of the world.

Lot if people think running to Africa is the answer to all their problems. Without understanding it's just a new set of problems.

But I don't want to kill no one's hope.
