See, I REALLY wanted the Turbo 'cause they could be modded, even way back then, but the holy grail was to find an '87 or '88 with the VG30DE under the hood. North America only, not even Japan got an S12 with that engine. One of my customers had one like that and always flaunted that shit.

I took a L on my first car. I think my grandmother told my father to buy me a car but I was always a person that wanted no help plus I didn't want it brought up in my face that he bought me a car. Around 2002, my brother used to get his cars from the auction. So I asked him "Take me to the auction, I got some duckets (money) now". I was intended to buy a 80s model Regal, Cutlass or Monte Carlo. I don't know why I didn't stick with that choice of cars; maybe I didn't have much or they didn't have any at that time. Anyway, I see a 1996 Grand Am
Same color too. I think I bought it for about $800 at max. I got the car & cheesing like "I'm about to be everywhere now". I'm following my brother back to our parent's house & 10 minutes later. My car stopped. I forgot what was the issue but my brother came back. We fixed the car now I'm rolling again, then 5 minutes later it stopped again. Now my brain told me "Sanford, you bought a lemon". Fixed the little minor issue again, then got home. I think that was my last time that I drove that car. I ended up giving it to my brother about 3 months later. Then I got awarded with a 02' Ford Escort. That car was the GOAT tho. Great on gas, law mileage plus it was bought from a private seller. The only maintenance repair I had to do is get another thermostat. I used to ride to Atlanta like it was nothing. I had strong trust in that car

Just looked it up: Made a lil typo there. The engine was a VG30E, not the VG30DE. The VG30E was the same engine the original, normally aspirated 300ZX had in it and 0-60 was about the same, high 7's 0-60. The VG30DE was the engine from the Z32 300ZX and made about 50 more hp and I've heard of someone actually doing that swap, even squeezing a VG30DETT in there, but it's expensive as shit and you're better off going for a KA24DE, SR20, or SR20DET.

Grandma gave it to me in 96. Was riding in my homeboy's car and somebody rear ended us, pause. Got a couple grand on the settlement so got me some 14-inch 5 star rims, a CD deck, and a couple of Rockford Fosgate 12’s and amp.
Remember driving to school bumping Butta Love, lol. Couldn't tell me shit!
When I pledged me and my LB's would ride to set in it bumping Shoot 'em Up from the Nastradamus album. By this time I still had the system and rims but the muffler had a hole in it so we nicknamed it The Hummer.
Only issue I ever had was a hose busting on the radiator. At least until the engine seized up from not changing the oil like I should have been.
But that led to my brand new 2001 all black protege with the 16 inch blade rims, red light turn signals and interior light, alteeza tail lights, mirror tint, mirror Kappa front plate and 2 new Rockford 12's and amp. Riding through campus like a G! Now that was my shit! Until it got repo'd 3 years later, smh.

He bought it new in '78 and eventually gave it to my brother... Who then fucked with some Mexican broad up there in Saginaw despite my warnings about fuckin' with 'em and ended up with 4 flats, keyed up, and all the glass blown out.
