Writers & Actors Going On Strike (Writers & Actors Strike Over)

“I support my union, I do, and I stand with them but I do not support striking, I don’t. I think it is a reductive negotiating tactic and I find the entire thing incredibly frustrating and I think the thinking as it pertains to shows like the show that I’m on [Heels], that premiered last night, I think it’s myopic,” he said during an appearance at Galaxycon in Raleigh.

wtf other negotiating tactic does he think is gonna work then. Fuck outa here ollie

Its very funny to see the Hollywood’s side of the argument and how crass and dumb they are in the process. Wanting to implement AI, use said AI to copy actors and actresses likeness for re-use, and then not license that material to actors and actresses so they can not receive any royalties for it. Every argument from Hollywood’s side just looks dumber and dumber and people as a whole have caught on and viewing this from the outside can tell how much they’re in the wrong when SAG-AFTRA is barely asking for anything that wouldn’t be deemed reasonable to anyone with a functioning mind.

I thought the whole point of paying union dues was in case they need to strike and go without work for a lil while.

The union doesnt have enough to sustain it's members without the larger stars donating?

Just think the top stars are just doing it for the cause

Possible people weren't paying them. Especially if they aren't getting paid much they probably didn't want to make the paycheck smaller

If you dont pay your dues then you cant be a member.

All new members pay an Initiation Fee , plus the Semiannual Dues at the time of joining.

The National Initiation fee is currently $3,000.00.

Semiannual dues are comprised of:
1. 1/2 of the base dues (base dues are currently $231.96) plus
2. 1/2 of the work dues calculated at 1.575 of covered earnings up to $1,000,000 based on earnings in the previous calendar year.

Interesting.. thought the dues would have been more than that
