Never even heard of femicide until now but in any case, what's the angle in doing this by the Mexican judicial authorities when the chance of conviction is apparently low?!
"If you commit a crime of femicide, there's really not that much of a chance for you to get convicted for it. And that's one of the reasons why we see that rates are still very, very high," Beatriz GarcĂa Nice, the project lead for Wilson Center's initiative on gender-based violence, told CNN.

What are the requirements to make it a federal case? I guess I just assumed getting murdered outside the US would be a federal case since I'm guessing states wouldn't have jurisdiction
