As far as Kendrick performances go for me and performances in general this was a 4.5 out of 5 ( pop out was a solid 5 out of 5 ).

As a Superbowl performance, Imma give it a 2 out of 5.

That’s not a knock on Kendrick...I believe that this was intentional. Looking at his set list and the online complaints from the whites online, it’s clear that his song choices were his fans and his fans only. The only songs that casual listeners or non-fans could really sing along with were Turn the TV Off and NLU. This was an unusual choice. Typically, artists performing at the Super Bowl, especially those about to go on tour, focus on their biggest tracks with crossover appeal to attract new audiences.

The stage design featured a lot of red, white, and blue with hidden messages. You could take it at face value or look deeper for meaning. One of the things I appreciate most about Kendrick as an artist is that he challenges you to think critically about his work. A lot of people in general do not like thinking critically about shit lol. They don't want to be challenged they want to look at a tree and know its a tree. They don't want a hidden message on how a tree in an art piece is a symbol for something else.

I saw Drake and Future in concert once and it was pretty great...until Drake started singing. The moment he performed Hold on, We're Going Home, every guy in my section just sat down, completely disconnected from the performance. That song wasn’t meant for us—it made us feel uncomfortable and out of place.

Kendrick’s Super Bowl setlist had the same effect on non-fans especially white viewers. It wasn’t designed to be a crowd pleasing, universal moment. It was a statement. The fuck that statement was...other than challenging the audience and appealing to his core audience...i do not fuckin know but imma think on it. I say that also knowing I can't tell you any fucking Superbowl performance I've ever gave more than 2 seconds of reflection to after it was done.

Kendrick’s performance was watching history in the making. I feel like the audio could’ve been a little bit better but it wasn’t that bad and it’s what I expected pretty much.

Some people have complaints about him not doing some of his radio hits, but he did some of those songs on the other Super Bowl performance .

Shit was great

Brother please, you in here just like me. go watch wrestling

This isn't directed at you, but this is my first time seeing this. I don't think Cole said anything wrong here. In fact, he said what I've been saying this entire beef and thread. The battle he wanted and the battle ppl expected were not the same. It was centered around negative emotions and toxicity that steered away from the competition a battler looks for. He didn't back out of a battle like Aye Verb backed out of Serius Jones's battle or like Lux ducked JC when he was calling him out. And seeing how he broke down his personal journey, he never wanted to go that route in the first place. He said he didn't have any negative feelings towards those dudes... why have that type of battle if that's the case? Maybe y'all wanted him to crash out with the rest of these niggas, in which case y'all have the right to call him out on it. But I feel like he made a respectable move because he stayed true to himself rather than try to put on a fake show like Drake did. He's still one of the lyrical greats of this generation, and can still steal the show on any rapper's song... this apology doesn't and shouldn't change that. Dislike away.

The issue isn't that he apologized...the issue was that he dropped a diss track...THEN APOLOGIZED...THEN DELETED THE DISS TRACK. If Cole had apologized and made that comment before the diss track he still woulda looked like a bitch but I think niggas would let it go.

My issue was that he apologized, but then came back on some "If I would have battled I would have won" shit 😂😂😂

He apologized after because he succumbed to unnecessary pressure to strike back when the energy was misguided altogether. He never wanted to say what he said to Kendrick but he got pushed to, which was out of character for him. If this was a battle based on lyrical skill, I'm sure Cole would've invited K Dot to hop on a track with him and let the fans decide. But just like how Drake and Kendrick played out, he would've had to up the pettiness if he kept going this particular route. Plus if he kept that track up, the energy he never wanted out in the first place would've still been lingering. To me, Cole's mistake was not reaching out to Kendrick first and reading the room before going in.... I feel like the apology was warranted there. It's a battle rap faux pas for sure, but it's also a grown man making a grown man decision... there shouldn't be an "issue" at all.

Nah this is a hard disagree. Cole is a grown man. Saying he succumbed to pressure is some bitch shit. Cole been running around saying he the greatest and will destroy anyone in a battle for the last 3+ years was pressure he placed on himself. If anything fans called his bluff and the nigga folded. Call a spade a spade.

The is his L. He gonn wear the shit.

I think that's a bit too much of a deep dive, but I do think the political commentary satirical theme was at play. He wanted it to be more than just a bunch of songs, he wanted it to have substance and meaning. Which I think was accomplished. I didn't see the entire show as a petty diss. I think people with petty minds looking for the diss see it that way, cuz that's the validation the were looking for before the show even started. They wanted everything in the show to be about Drake. And that's a perspective, but I think there was way more thought involved in the production of the show.
