When is the last time you told a woman to "calm down"?

Let's keep it real...men use "calm down almost exclusively with women. They'll point out that we're being irrational/emotional to be patronizing at worst and to try to control the situation at best.

Niggas at my job have stupid debates daily. Last night it was something about Disney movies. It was yelling, hands waving, foot stomping, cuss words...not once was "calm down" or any variation of it said.

Niggas have an understanding, ain't no "calm down". If shit go left, it's just gonna go left, and those men gonna have to back up the shit they were Poppin if it get that heated. Simple.

That's fine but the point is that that type of "emotion" or "passion" in a heated discussion will almost always be treated with letting niggas get what they wana say out. If I chimed in with the same energy, I would get told to calm down/my voice being raised would get pointed out way before a dude. It's mad annoying and comes off like yall tryna knock us down a few pegs.
 
Almost had to say it earlier. Instead I opted for "Uhh...I need you to turned down your voice" (b/c she started to get loud).

She got mad at me for bringing up how messy SHE got the other bedroom. Shyt looked like her own personal junk room cuz...no ma'am. This ain't back home in HER house. She could do that b/c she was living there by herself. Not in this house.

After that she went and "straighten" the room up...slamming stuff down...being pissed. I tried fucc wit her and give her kiss, but she wasn't hearing that. Lol. As soon as we got in the car tho...she just went off. I just sat there and let her rant. Get it all out. Wasn't gonna push back. I mean I had a legit reason to gripe...but it wasn't worth ruining my day arguing.

I'm flying to the states for a few days...maybe she'll calm down while I'm letting her calm down.

I'm not projecting, but it sounds like you don't trust a man who tells you to calm down to have your best interest at heart.

I've told several men to chill, mostly at work but also in my fraternity. Not to emasculate or belittle them, but because I see them of being on the verge of doing something they might regret.

Sometimes in the heat of the moment, you can be so hype that you don't see what's happening around you or how you're actually coming across. Communication is equal parts what you say and how you say it.

Its the same as when women are passive aggressive and try to belittle shit men like by using "little".
