What's even more sad is couture is dead now. That's why Versace got sold for so little compared to past offers. These companies aren't doing the numbers they used to because of A. China B. Companies like Zara, H&M, Uniqlo, Fashion Nova etc and C. People want the look but don't want to pay all the money for it. There was a time when fashion houses didn't even sell their shit online. Now they're trying to infiltrate social media and do anything to get people to buy. The rich are buying but rich people aren't the majority of consumers.
When you have a big corporation and shareholders who want their billions and banks you borrowed money from you get desperate, that's why these companies now are trying to do these Collaborations with big box clothing stores. H&M, Inditex (Zara), Uniqlo and these fast fashion brands are killing it. There was a time when Balenciaga, Hermes, Gucci and these stores wouldn't even want their shows or stores to be in the same building or block now they're begging them To do collabs now that they need it to stay alive.
This is only the beginning..... and social media birds will continue to buy the shit because they don't even know themselves so they don't know better.
