I'm not entirely sure how unfair that is, or if it is unfair that we're blaming the right people. We're talking money, so we're talking business. The men's team is playing in the biggest sporting event in the world. The money the tournament generates is extremely high, and the purse money reflects that for teams that win.
Like if a WNFL popped up, and a team won their Super Bowl for 10 straight years. Then the players pop up and say "The Bengals haven't won shit. Why are they paid so much more than us?". Welllll the Bengals are involved in revenue sharing with the rest of the league, so they generate way more money. To get the same pay the women's team would be paid like the Bengals and go bankrupt, or the Bengals would take a huge pay cut, and the players wouldn't get a fair cut of the revenue they helped bring the franchise

I hear that and I believe it would hold weight if the men's team consistently made the world cup.
They are legit the biggest source of income for the American football association. Olympics world cup and she believes cup. Plus TV viewers and ticket sales.

I should say I went to a lecture on modern sports and one of the biggest issues for women sports is women refuse to watch it.

It sounds kinda weird do say since they didn't qualify most recently, but at this point they do consistently make the world cup, don't they? They've made every tournament except 1 going back to 1990. That's 7 of the last 8.
So if that's what makes the women generate more money than them, it's not something that happens often.

I think sports where women have their own association (tennis) they tend to do a lot better in terms of earnings and recognition.

It's the same as NBA/WNBA.
70-80%, if not more, of the men's and women's US soccer teams get their revenue from the World Cup. And just like the NBA, Men's soccer his far more popular than women's.
The Men's World Cup get's like 3/4/5 billion in revenues every 4 years and the Women's is like 500M, maybe.

At one time they put WNBA games on Lifetime to try and get more women viewers and still didn't pick up.
Women's tennis doesn't really look much different than men's tennis. You might argue that the overall level of athleticism is a little lower, but at the end of the day professional woman's tennis still looks like high level tennis. The problem with the WNBA is that as skillful as the ladies might be, women's basketball doesn't look like top tier basketball when compared to what you see in the NBA.

Women tennis looks like men’s tennis besides the serve speed.
Women basketball looks like shit compared to NBA/college and to be honest closer to HS boys JV team.

Technically WNBA and NBA are same company but the point still stands. NBA been using their profits to keep them alive, WNBA on its own would be highly insolvent.
