Just got a text from my wife. She said that the school counselor called her saying that our oldest daughter was talking about wanting to die. And said it’s not the first time stating this. We had her with a therapist about her anxiety but had to stop because her therapist went out of network. It’s one of the things that a parent fears and with everything that is happening with us, our family’s mental can’t take too much more of this.

Damn. Is it depression? I knew someone that was on prozac and it really helped them with theirs

Is babygirl hesitant to see a different therapist?

I’m praying for you. Keep her close and shower her with the upmost love. I hope everything works out. Hopefully you can find a new therapist in network that’s good.

It is depression. Sadly, her mom and me both deal with depression.

Not hesitant, sadly it’s not too many black therapist that deal with kids in our area.

Come to find out it’s her so-called friends who is picking on her and fat shaming her. The thing is that she is not even fat, she is really tall for her age. But these so called friends of hers has caused her so many problems. We want her to whoop their ass but we know that she is not that type of kid.

It was like a night and day difference. Do you take any medication for it? I know some meds work better than others for people. There's this other one that I know someone took and it helped them

There's also the 'just go do something' that works for some people. Like just being active and not 'moping around'. Thankfully we have a lot of resources out there nowadays

Bullying is a bitch and it seems a delicate thing to deal with so as to not make things worse for the kid

You can also try talking with a relative or friend that's around that age that she looks up to. Mine did that for when I was a troubled teen

Humor..... Introduce humor to her as a ways to cope with the ugliness in her peers....

Funny thing about the world is so many people coped with bullying and depression by being funny... Watch a movie like mean girls with her... Laugh at the movie then talk about the actual topic.... Shit is often funny cuz it's relatable.... Help her to find the funny, and the hurt doesn't always hurt as bad.

I take Lexapro and it has been working. I still have my good and bad days. But since I have been layed off and not being able to find work, the stress and depression has been a bitch.

I’m out of work right now so that’s no problem. Right now it’s slowly trying to get her out of her room. I don’t want to try and force her out, but at the same time I know it’s not healthy for her.
Bruh we took my niece in a few years ago, she was coming out of bad situation. I really just made her my little best friend for weeks... Just chilling, hanging and helping her recognize a different perspective of the world.

Kids internalize so much cuz they really just don't understand most the world fucked up.. They have no idea most people hiding it... It's like a real awakening...but as a parental, just ease her into it. And try to get her to see shit objectively and not take things to heart

Have you talked with your doc about upping the dosage? That's got to be a lot to deal with and maybe the dosage needs adjusted

Thanks for the talk and tips. Having talks like this with my family don’t really work out because a lot of them still have the old school mentality on how to work through things like this.

Managing emotions one of the hardest things to do as a human. Least we can do is share what we learned.
