my lil girl 8 and already outgrew youtube kids so i let her use my profile but i'm about to put some controls on it or something

she dont even watch anything crazy, just those wack ass cacs that do minecraft videos and occasionally they use language I prefer her not to hear so if she playing it when im around, I make her change it.

So true. I do random checks on my kids phone and go through everything. I try to look past the cursing and things that are not harmful to them or their self esteem. I try to remember what it was like when I was a teen and how what I said did not reflect who I really was as a person. Teens just try to be cool.

But if I see something potentially harmful we have a genuine discussion on why it may be harmful and what to look out for and how some people, even friends, don’t have your best interests at heart. Best way to deal with it is to talk it out and build trust.

Man I fought tooth and nail against this shit. You’d be surprised how much they get exposed to through social media, but it’s hard to shelter them from it when it’s so ingrained in their social experience now. Social media is probably on the same level as school when it comes to their social development.

I just put time limits on it all so they don’t OD on it. Then when they get on they focus on something specific and don’t get lost in the Matrix.

I had to take off YouTube from my 7 year old daughter’s tv because we notice she was doing more back talking. When we looked at her history, we saw a lot of Roblox videos and a lot of pregnancy videos.

I remember that we had to stop our daughter from watching one family’s channel on YouTube. I think it was the Royal Family or sum shit like that. First their son was talking crazy to his parents. And the kicker is that the mom used to be either a pornstar or did nude pictures.

It’s some videos that I like from them and others I don’t. I can’t stand Famous Tube Kids. The dad try’s too hard to be what he’s not. And the kids act like they are grown.

I took all that social media stuff away for about a month. Kid almost lost his marbles to boredom lol. But it was healthy. Tic Tok is hard to monitor. They do have restricted mode but everything nowadays is sus.

I was a lil lenient during winter break but during school. He can only watch a limited amount of tic tok and youtube on the weekends.

Looking at trying to get him more involved in after school activities. Keeping him busy so he don't have time for that stuff might be the move. He was heavy in soccer and football but I took him out due to the pandemic last year. It was rampant.

It's too consuming and half the stuff they don't understand the full context of.
