Trump Denies He Directed Michael Cohen to Pay Off Women: I Found Out ‘Later On’

President Donald Trump denied that he knew about payments his former lawyer Michael Cohen made to women alleging affairs in an interview released Wednesday, claiming he only found out about the payments “later on.”

Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt sat down for an exclusive interview with the president in the wake of Cohen pleading guilty to campaign-finance violations and other charges. Cohen implicated the president in the crimes, stating Trump directed him to payoff the women — porn star Stormy Danielsand Playboy model Karen McDougal — during the 2016 campaign.

In the interview, set to air in full Thursday morning, Earhardt asked Trump: “Did you know about the payments?”

“Later on I knew,” Trump replied. “Later on.”

Curiously, Trump went on to claim that the money for the payments “did not come out of the campaign,” so did not violate campaign finance laws, but “came from me.”

Trump Says Hush Money Payments to Women Came From Him, Not Campaign

President Donald Trump denied that the hush money payments to women arranged by his lawyer Michael Cohen came from his 2016 campaign, claiming they instead came from himself.

Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt sat down for an exclusive interview with the president in the wake of Cohen implicating the president in crimes, stating Trump directed him to payoff the women — porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal — during the 2016 campaign.

Cohen pleaded guilty to campaign-finance violations as a result of those payments.

In the interview, set to air in full Thursday morning, Trump claimed that he only found out about the payments later on. That’s in contradiction to Cohen’s statement in court, as well as the recording released by Cohen that shows Trump speaking about the payments in September 2016.

“Later on I knew,” Trump said on Fox & Friends. “Later on.”

Trump then claimed that the money for the payments “did not come out of the campaign,” so did not violate campaign finance laws, but “came from me.”

CNN Suspends Paris Dennard After WaPo Uncovers Past Sexual Misconduct Allegations

CNN has suspended one of its most vocal, pro-Trump commentators after a Washington Post report detailed past alleged sexual misconduct that resulted in his firing from Arizona State University four years ago.

Paris Dennard, who was recently praised by President Donald Trump as “wonderful,” was serving as the events director for ASU’s McCain Institute for International Leadership when he according to a 2014 university report obtained by The Washington Post, “pretended to unzip his pants in her presence, tried to get her to sit on his lap, and made masturbatory gestures.”

Dennard called the allegations “false.”

“I cannot comment on items I have never seen regarding allegations I still believe to be false,” Dennard told WaPo. “This is sadly another politically motivated attempt to besmirch my character, and shame me into silence for my support of President Trump and the GOP.”

After the report was published, CNN suspended Dennard.

“We are aware of reports of accusations against Paris Dennard,” a CNN spokesperson told Mediaite. “We are suspending Paris, effective immediately, while ‎we look into the allegations.”

This is not a good for Paris...

MSNBC Trounces Fox News in Ratings on Manafort-Cohen Day, Knocking Hannity to Third

On Tuesday’s big news day, following a plea deal for former Trump attorney Michael Cohen and a conviction for former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort, the ratings crown went to MSNBC during prime time.

According to Nielsen, The Rachel Maddow Show and The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell took the top spots in all of cable Tuesday night, with Maddow pulling 3.893 million in total viewers and O’Donnell at 3.339 million total viewers.

That put typical ratings king Hannity in the number three spot, with 3.259 million.

Rachel Maddow was #1 across all cable viewers as well as top in the demo at 881,000. MSNBC notes that makes last night’s broadcast her second highest rated in total viewers in her show history.

Overall, MSNBC cleaned up on Tuesday night. The network was number one in primetime (8-11pm) in both A25-54 at 709,000, and in total viewers at 3.296 million. From 9pm-3am, each hour of programming came out number one in total viewers.

Aides Try To Distract Trump While The Walls Come Crashing Down Around Them

As President Donald Trump flew to West Virginia for a rally Tuesday night, he carried heavy cargo—a conviction for his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, a guilty plea from his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen, an indictment of one of his earliest endorsers Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) and a story about his National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow inviting a white nationalist publisher to his birthday party.

Infamous for his mercurial temperament, Trump is likely to explode at any moment with a barrage of angry and possibly self-incriminating tweets. As his aides whisper nervously about the possibility of his future impeachment, they’re doing their best to keep the volcanic President distracted, according to a Tuesday Politico report.

Many staffers told Politico that Tuesday was “one of the darkest days” for Trump’s presidency, and fretted that the legal peril so many Trump associates have found themselves in could lend credence to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe, just by nature of the taint of criminality smearing the White House.

Some are reportedly worried that all of the scandal will add fire to the Democrats’ desire to impeach him, adding that Tuesday’s turmoil only makes it more important for Republicans to hold the House and protect the President.

As one former White House aide phrased it to Politico, now staffers are just working to “minimize the amount of self harm” Trump could do to himself in his rage. The plan is to keep Trump distracted with golf and rallies, to give him less time to stew.

“He’s almost like a volcano, which sometimes blows off steam without taking out the village below,” the former official added. “The busier he is, the less likely he’s going to get in these moods and watch TV and get more and more angry.”
