The Official DCU Thread

nah...im confused

ask nemesis

he the one saying A wrinkle in time flopped

i was confused as why it was posted here being that this is a DCEU thread
Ava was announced as heading New Gods right on the heels of Wrinkle in Time underperformed.

Box office wise, it looks like WB is licking up Disney's sloppy/floppy seconds.

But most people say that Wrinkle's failure isn't Ava's fault.

Know how I feel about this shit

Marvel is Teen Titans go

DC is Teen Titans

Marvel is about being loud, jokey, random, all coming back to a good endings

DC is about character building, villian building, complex choices, no clear cut good or bad endings, just making you want the next chapter in the story

And who ever is behind this dc movie shit doesn’t understand the characters are built to be on the same stage as Marvel

They did a great job of telling you why superman was who he was in the superman movie. That’s DC, at its finest. Why he was reluctant, why Lois became special to him. Why Zod wanted to do what he was doing. How at the same time at some level you understood Zod as much as you understood super man.

With Suicide Squad and BvS. There was none of that.

Why is Lex so different than we regularly know him..fuck dat watch the movie

Batman has seen the death of this parents and never killed. Why does he now want to kill superman..we’ll casually give u a reason but fuck dat watch the movie

Now..marvel at this ending fight scene where we tie in the next person who’s gonna get a spin off..Fuck it, y’all know her already right?

BvS was catch up mode, and Justice League was empty and DC trying to do a Marvel Movie with DC characters

Ill never understand the hate for MOS. Thats a top 10 comic movie for me and better than superman 2.

Word, there’s not one character in that movie that you can say was a bad character. Not one moment in that movie where you can say that moment wasn’t needed.

Well iirc, the lex you see in these films was based on a comic run of let's son which why it wasn't the traditional lex you've come to know.

The Watchmen and The DC animated universe movies

Lex’s sons beefs and traits came about for a reason. You don’t introduce a Lex widely known to most on the film screen without explaining him

The reason this shit is disjointed is because you had Superman the beacon of hope be hopeless in 2 back to back movies. You have Batman the pillar of creating fear actually ACTING on fear and not using it as a tool.

Those are your 2 big franchise players and you completely strayed from their essence from jump. Wonder Woman got lucky that somebody who understood that at her core she is a loving and curious soul with a brave heart and not just your typical warrior understood that. Let's see what happens with Aquaman and Captain Marvel.

The Marvel characters had the benefit of the doubt that most people including comic book fans didn't really know them. So most people don't mind certain changes made to the core of Iron Man, Cap or Thor from movies to comics.

DC doesn't have that luxury. For all intents and purposes superheroes began with them and the world has been conditioned with their heroes more than anybody else's. Every generation going back to the 40s has had major DC media representation introduce them to superheroes.

From the George Reeves Superman to Adam West Batman, Donner and Burton movies or Super Friends and Justice League Unlimited (and now Young Justice). So people feel more possessive and will judge more harshly.

Realistically they could spank Marvel if they really cared to. However that requires a slate of films made by teams that understand why people generally like DC in the first place. Right now they don't really have that.
