The Official DCU Thread

Seems like DC is going out of their way to ruin the DCEU lol...

Or Disney got people in WB and it's just a matter of time before one of them WB execs tweets 'hail Hydra' lmao.

Waiting for Comic Con to clear this shit up.

They had the Joker/Harley movie in development, but im sure thats not happening anymore. I still think there will be hope for a Gotham City Sirens movie, but i personally am not looking forward to seeing that.

I didnt mind Leto's Joker. I dont like his "Style" though. the Tats, the teeth, the gangster/mobster type of vibe. Im hoping they correct it somehow and just make him the crazy anarchist type similar to Dark Knight and also redo his appearance lol.

Like Broddie had mentioned already though, its kind of stupid that a DCEU solo joker film is in development when they already have that "elseworlds" joker movie in development by Todd Philips and Martin Scorcese. Just make joker a Loki type of villain. Have him show up in the Batman films and other films and tell his story over multiple films.

Not trying to see somebody trying to do their best Ledger Joker impression. Let Leto keep the persona and see where he can take it. Maybe not so animated, a little darker and introspective maybe.

Flash should be an epic. Two movies back to back.

Dude has everything a long franchise needs....

A whole family of heroes that can start of as kids and fill in later

A power set that let's then right any previous wrongs done in the cinematic universe.

Barry Allen can legit die, Wally can take over and Barry can come back for the flash reborn direction

'Doom Patrol' Filming Start Time And Location Revealed

The DC Universe series Doom Patrol is reportedly lining up for a summer shoot in Atlanta, according to Omega Underground.

If true, this means that the series will not film in the same location as Titans, from which it is a spinoff. That may complicate future crossovers, although filming schedules could likely be lined up to accommodate those if need be.

Most of the series has already been cast, although casting for Cyborg and other supporting cast members is still underway.

Doom Patrol "is a re-imagining of one of DC’s most beloved group of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol's members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities — but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence — and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them.

Picking up after the events of Titans, Doom Patrol will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same."

The one-hour drama comes from executive producers Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns, Jeremy Carver, and Sarah Schechter . The pilot was written by Carver.

The original Doom Patrol was created by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney, and Bruno Premiani in 1963. "The World's Strangest Heroes" originally consisted of The Chief, Robotman, Elasti-Girl, and Negative Man. Given their lack of cultural acceptance within the DC Universe, the strange-looking characters, and a mentor in a wheelchair, the team has often been compared to Marvel's more successful X-Men franchise.

A couple of years ago, the title was relaunched as the flagship for DC's Young Animal imprint; written by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way, the title has received critical acclaim and enough commercial success to justify a major crossover with Justice League of America -- "Milk Wars," by Way and Justice League of Americawriter Steve Orlando alongside a murderer's row of top art talent.

Titans will launch on the DC streaming service later this year, along with the animated series Young Justice: Outsiders, Swamp Thing, and more.

Jesse was tryna do a different version of Luther that was present in the death of super man arc.

Knowing what he was going for and what he brought to it, it's not as bad just difficult to get over when people are expecting a certain lex Luthor.

The best comic version of lex imo was the way he was in Red Son.

And to be honest I think Jesse could have pulled that version off. Dude was just smarter than superman. And his obsession with killing him felt like he had a genuine chance...

Dude legit balanced the budget and cured all sickness just so the government wouldn't bother him while he went through crazy money trying to kill supes...

That kinda lex would have been great on film. Jesse's creepy lex could have pulled that off

Leto's joker is much better if they leave the domestic abuse in. I could have saved his performance with like two or three scenes being rewtitten

Geoff Johns Stepping Down as DC Entertainment Chief

After multiple years in his current role, Geoff Johns is stepping down as the Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment.

Instead of overseeing the creative directions of DC Entertainment, Johns is launching Mad Ghost Productions, and is entering an exclusive writer/producer deal with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment. He'll be leaving his current post in order to focus on his new creative responsibilities.

As a part of this move, Johns will be producing and writing multiple DC-inspired films for Warner Bros., the first of which will be Green Lantern Corps. Johns will continue to serve as a writer/executive producer on Aquaman, Wonder Woman 2, and Shazam!

Additionally, Johns will continue his work as a writer for DC Comics, launching a new banner called "The Killing Zone," which will focus on new and lesser-known DC characters and titles. He will also be writing a new Shazam! comic, an upcoming series called Three Jokers, and will continue writing Doomsday Clock.

“Geoff is a super talented writer and truly embedded in the DC Universe and its characters,” said Toby Emmerich, Chairman, Warner Bros. Pictures Group. “We’re thrilled that he’s returning to his passion and his roots as a writer and producer. And, it’s even better that he’s staying in our Warner Bros. family. We look forward to working with him on ‘Green Lantern’ and other projects going forward.”

Johns also commented on the move in a press release, as well as on Twitter.

“I took on a role at DCE because I love the characters and this universe more than anything. But, I want to spend my days writing and on set. I’m thrilled to get back to a more hands-on creative role. It’s a dream job on dream projects, reaching even deeper into DC’s vast pantheon of characters,” said Johns. “I’m also excited to continue to work with the amazing team at DCE and my colleagues at Warner Bros.”

Geoff Johns to Write and Produce DC's 'Green Lantern Corps' Movie

This morning, it was announced that Geoff Johns would be stepping down as Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment, and shift into a more creative, hands-on role with several of DC's properties. As it turns out, of Johns' first projects is to write and produce the long talked about Green Lantern Corps.

Johns is well known for his run of Green Lantern comics for DC, and the movie was reported to be based on his work. Now, with Johns' new role, it looks as though he'll be much more hands-on when it comes to the making of the film.

After stepping down from his current role, Johns entered an exclusive deal with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment. His new production company, Mad Ghost Productions, will be creating content for multiple divisions of the studio, including films, television, and comic books.

According to the press release, one of Johns' first film projects will be Green Lantern Corps. Rather than serving as an executive producer on the movie, Johns will write the screenplay and produce.

The last official update for Green Lantern Corps, which has been talked about for years at now, stated that David Goyer would be writing the film. The press release regarding Johns' involvement didn't say whether or not he was joining Goyer as a co-writer, or if he was starting fresh on his own.

In addition to the production of the Green Lantern Corps, Johns is set to continue working on the DC films that he was already a part of. This includes Aquaman, Shazam!, and Wonder Woman 2.

Funny. I actually enjoyed it for that reason. I loathe the traditional Harley/Joker dynamic. Never liked it specifically because

1) Joker works best by himself
2) How it made light of abusive relationships

he's still writing and producing, just not head over creative control no more...

shit's looking tough.... but i still have faith

Yeah let's hope they don't fuck up the corps...green lanten could have its own movie verse thats how gottdamn much potential it has man but hey...it's still WB were dealing with...

I'm glad Johns is not the creative director anymore. Give that job to someone with real hollywood experience. He's much better off as a writer and producer that way he can really learn the ropes of the movie business on a greater level. His previous film industry experience was as an assistant. His strength is his writing. Let him finally learn what it takes to be a movie writer and how it's significantly different from writing comic books.

Yeah i can understand Johns being taken off as creative director. I wanted him there, but he doesnt have hollywood experience really. Just minor producer credits on a few films. Glad hes able to fully become a writer though.

Im ecstatic that David Goyer isnt the writer for GL Corps though. was not looking forward to him being in control of that story. I loved Johns GL stories though, so even better that he will be the writer of the film.
