I just told how the two words are related. Efficacy is the degree to which something is effective. For example, a vaccine that is 95% effective has a high efficacy.
Yes, some places allowed for vaxxed people to take the masks off, but that was BEFORE the vaccine resistant variants popped up. Initially, the vaccines were pretty effective in stopping the spread. We saw the numbers go down quite a bit. Then the variants came out and that changed. Once the numbers showed that those variants dominated the cases, most places flipped and recommended mask use for everyone again.
Moderna and Pfizer always required two doses. That's not unique among vaccines. The Hepatitis B vaccine, for example, requires three.
We've known since the vaccines were released that they weren't permanent cures and would wear off in time. The hope was that enough people would be vaccinated and that COVID would be nearly gone by the time the vaccines wore off. That didn't happen, so they released the booster around six months after the initial vaccine doses were released because that's when the companies said the vaccines would start to lose their effectiveness. Again boosters aren't unusual for vaccines. For example, the polio vaccine requires you get the initial shot when you're a baby, and then you get a booster at like 6 y/o.
The problem is that ya'll are looking for something nefarious in how a lot of this has gone down, when in reality, this has just been a highly adaptable virus and scientists really have never had a solid footing for accurate information. Leaders have lied and made erroneous statements. That's true, but those statements aren't the major reasons for why we're still dealing with COVID.
Scientists worldwide stated and have been stating that - even before the ’vaccines’ were rolled out - that mutations would come and that it’s a fairy tale to believe you can stop said mutations to happen or even contain and stop the spread of a respiratory virus with vaccines. It makes no sense to compare Saïd ‘vaccines’ - flu n rona shots - with actual transmission and immunity providing polio vaccines. The entire campaign was futile before it even started and even in this thread that shit was called out and posted before the vaccines were even rolled out.
By the time Pfizer BioNtech and co releashed their vaccines, the British (alfa) Indian (delta), Brazilian and South African variants were already out while the vaccines were based on the ‘original’ Wuhan strain…
The problem is that people - I’m not blaming you or @TheNightKing - keep falling for the Pfizer BioNtech (cuthroat corps - marketing campaign, John Oliver was even spreading the ’vaccinate yourself before the virus mutates and we’re to late!’ Bullshit on last week tonight.
They had and still have grown azz folks believing one could vaccinate the entire world - Lol - before a respiratory virus which already mutated mutates…
again I don’t blame y’all for falling for the marketing scheme but you’re trying to convince yourself that the booster shot actually makes sense while mentioning Pfizer while Pfizer themselves already stated that omikron requires 3 more shots - bringing the tally up to 6 - and that they will start supplying the world this spring, EU nations - including where I live - already announced the 4th, 5th and 6th shots this year. This is no conspiracy shit lol. Don’t get me started how it correlates lol with the temporary privileges giving Corona Pass(ports).
the problem isn’t ‘us’ looking for some nefarious shit in multinational companies and governments with crooked track records, but naive folks who believe you can vaccinate 7 billion people like it’s something that is possible and ever happened before.
Like @The Lonious Monk , I too am tired of the fight. I’ll just say I never believed we could vaccinate our way out of this. Not because it was scientifically impossible, just that we would never get enough people on board.Scientists worldwide stated and have been stating that - even before the ’vaccines’ were rolled out - that mutations would come and that it’s a fairy tale to believe you can stop said mutations to happen or even contain and stop the spread of a respiratory virus with vaccines. im tired too......Like @The Lonious Monk , I too am tired of the fight. I’ll just say I never believed we could vaccinate our way out of this. Not because it was scientifically impossible, just that we would never get enough people on board.
Logically, if enough people got the vaccine and the virus could not transmit through a vaccinated person, which was true before Delta, then no more virus. It’s pretty simple and I don’t need Pfizer to tell me that.
Once Delta came about, the vaccine would not stop transmission, but it would reduce the hospitalization and death rates. I saw 500k dead in a year and once the vaccine was introduced to the population, it slowed. Logically speaking it did what they said it did. I didn’t need Pfizer to tell me that either.
Now if you want to claim the hospitalization and death rates or vaccine efficacy are bullshit and the experts are lying then that’s another discussion I don’t have the will it care to discuss.
Get the vaccine or don’t, believe it’s all a conspiracy or don’t. It bothers me none at this point because people are going to believe whatever supports their bias.
go on the cvs app.How much are test where yall are at i havent shelled out a buck to get tested..
Between local establishments and getting tested a few times at a doc
Its wild to me at how much test cost i l was online at a pharmacy a week or ago and they were saying rapids were i think 150
I mean thats crazy in itself let alone the fact the reliability of the rapids is Shaq Free throw status
How much have yalled paid to get tested?

Bruh, you're not even arguing against anything I said. We all acknowledge that the viruses mutate. I said that myself. And we didn't have to vaccinate 100% of the population to beat the virus, and no one who knows what they are talking about ever said that was the case. That's not how shit works. See this back and forth is kinda pointless. I'm not getting my information from Pfizer or the government. I work at a think tank that gets paid to research into and solve problems. We had a group working on COVID and got updates directly from the source. I'm tired of seeing mutha fuckas with Ph.D's from the universities of Google and Bing acting like they know what they are talking about.
I'm tired of the fight. It is what it is at this point. The pandemic is pretty much out of our hands. Either it will fizzle out on its own, or we'll get some super variant that is both highly contagious and deadly and the population will be cut down until the virus can't sustain itself. That's pretty much how I see it going at this point.
So the vaccine did not stop transmission before Delta? And you know this how? I’m open to learning because as far as I knew transmission was slim to none for vaccinated folks prior to Delta.im tired too......
but the before delta line.......bruh cmon.
can we just agree to disgree and say yall are wrong....and we talk shit about the targs and lannisters?
I stated that vaccination for a respiratory virus was futile before the campaign even started - not that 100% needs to be vaccinated in order to ‘beat the virus’ - and beating a virus like covid with vaccines (or and if at all) was a fairy tale back in march and April 2020, I don’t know nor care which think tank you work for and if yall were operating with the assumption that y’all could stop the spread and beat covid with vaccines (or any other way) than your mission was futile to begin with aswell. Covid was all over the world in spring 2020 and nothing could have stopped it. This is not hindsight shit but even people who graduated from google stated in April 2020 that the Rona wouldnt go anywhere and it would be endemic - which was pushed by various European and Asian CDCs and ministries of Health back then. Shit even I and others posted that fact in this very thread lol.
I’m not fighting anyone, just calling out bullshit, like you for instance stating that the ‘pandemic’ is out of our hands, like it ever was in our hands to begin with. I @TheNightKing cause dude flip flopped a 100 times in this thread just for the banter lol.
I got my master at the Universiteit Leiden btw - where Einstein amongst others studied - not that you need one to see through the nonsense and the con… This pandemic hasnt been about (global) public health since spring 2020 but I guess mofos still need to wait a couple years before they acknowledge the above…
Prove the flip or flop or keep your accusations to yourself.I stated that vaccination for a respiratory virus was futile before the campaign even started - not that 100% needs to be vaccinated in order to ‘beat the virus’ - and beating a virus like covid with vaccines (or and if at all) was a fairy tale back in march and April 2020, I don’t know nor care which think tank you work for and if yall were operating with the assumption that y’all could stop the spread and beat covid with vaccines (or any other way) than your mission was futile to begin with aswell. If I learn something different that makes more sense than my prior assumption I’m willing to change my mind. It’s a trait that should be valued. I don’t stick to my guns and revel in ignorance like so many others with this Covid shit.
Bruh, COVID-19 is nothing unknown. Coronaviruses come and go all the time, and they have been beaten with and without vaccines. You're acting like you're some kinda prognosticator since your predicted an outcome of that was obvious. Again, we aren't where we are because established epidemiology failed. We're here because at no point during this entire pandemic did we ever have a sustained effort to implement the measures recommended. However, we have more than enough examples of cases where the measures were implemented on small scales for good results.
Now, if your argument was that we never could have implemented those measures on a large enough scale to make a difference, then you might be right. I don't know if it's true or not, it's plausible. However, I do think it's bullshit that people keep acting like some deep point was proven by our current predicament when the reality is that our predicament is largely the result of ignorance and stupidity more than the failure of any particular initiative to stop the virus.
