The official COVID-19/Coronavirus Discussion Thread...aka I hope I don't get the Rona

Getting Vaccinated>>>>>>>>Catching COVID And Surviving

The Virus has already produced another variant. The Vaccination will have to adapt to keep pace with a virus that is clearly still evolving.

So......................

Being that we are only 20 months into COVID-19 and less than 12 months into full scale vaccination................

Natural Immunity is inconclusive.

What the fuck is so hard to comprehend about that?

Honestly?

It's not a fucking trick question. It's basic ass logic.

You said natural immunity was a made up term. That's where you lost me and everyone else. Now your saying it's inconclusive....?

Getting Vaccinated>>>>>>>>Catching COVID And Surviving
Lol no shit vaxxing is better than catching Covid. I never even made this argument

The Virus has already produced another variant. The Vaccination will have to adapt to keep pace with a virus that is clearly still evolving.
While y'all need a 3rd jab, I'm more protected without a single jab bc I recovered from the original strain. Studies are proving this. U can't refute facts.

Lol they know people need a 3rd booster bc they see the effects waning. They know people with natural immunity don't need a jab because they are still well protected 18 or so months into the pandemic, which is WAY more data than the vaccines give u. So by your definition, vaccine efficiency is inconclusive.

Okay, I found it. He's saying this: "We do not know when we can confidently understand the long term effects of COVID. So because of that, there can be no natural immunity"

Not only that,

Look at the data with the Delta Variant. It's more contagious. It hits harder. The current vaccines available are not as strong against it.

So touting natural immunity while the virus is literally flipping on us right in our face is illogical.

Naw he said it was a made up thing lol.

I said that in reference to how he used it. He was not using it correctly. He was using it wrong. He made it a hot line. I made it a hot song.

But do you have to be so angry and rude tho about it?

I understand that. But with the data we have right now, and the way past viruses/diseases have been studied (particularly coronaviruses) the experts confidently believe immunity from the original strain can last year's if not up to a life time.

I also said in my first post to him, if that changes I'll get vaxxed.

This is not a factual statement.

More protected from what?

You caught COVID. You didn't catch the Delta Variant. What are you more protected from?

See this is what's funny....................

There is no data that shows that simply catching COVID and recovering is a better outcome than simply getting vaccinated against COVID.

This is where you incorrectly inserted natural immunity.

Those who had received two shots of the Pfizer vaccine were 13 times more likely to have a “breakthrough” infection of the Delta variant than those who had had a Covid-19 infection in January or February this year.
Vaccinated individuals were found to be at a greater risk of coronavirus-related hospital admissions compared with those previously been infected. “This study demonstrated that natural immunity confers longer-lasting and stronger protection,” the researchers said.
Dr Charlotte Thalin, a Swedish immunology researcher at Danderyds Hospital and the Karolinska Institute, said it was a “textbook example of how natural immunity is really better than vaccination”

It's so many studies and every little variable can sway the outcomes. Literally probably tons of studies to prove whatever point. And again we don't really know people's health conditions prior to contracting the virus. It's very unstable information on all fronts. Contradicting data left and right.

Yeah make sense it's a new virus essentially. Very similar to the flu where you need a shot or either get the flu every year to build up antibodies.

Correct.

And unlike The Flu, COVID is not a virus that you should be willing to take a risk on simply catching and getting over it.

It's more deadly than The Flu and COVID-19 has not even been out long enough like The Flu has to come to any conclusions on what the ultimate outcome of living with it and surviving will be.

In other words, COVID only has one outcome that we can conclude and that is that it is a deadly virus. As for the effects of living with it, nobody can conclude that. Which is why there is such a strong push to get vaccinated against it.

Had more people worn mask, social distanced, and gotten vaccinated when it was first available to them, the likeliness of stronger variants like The Delta Variant would have less of a chance of existing in the first place.

These variants will continue to exist and grow stronger and more complicated as long as mankind does not collectively act on containing the virus.

So right now the most effective way to contain the virus is to get as many people vaccinated against it as quickly as possible. The whole argument of any type of immunity is irrelevant without first getting as many people vaccinated.

Like, you can't skip the readily available option of vaccination and tout immunity. There is a step in between contacting COVID and surviving that people are missing and that is surviving it itself. Immunity is dependent on not dying after you catch it in the first place WHICH IS THE WHOLE ENTIRE POINT OF GETTING VACCINATED, WEARING MASK, AND SOCIAL DISTANCING IN THE FIRST PLACE SO THAT YOU REDUCE THE RISK OF CATCHING THE VIRUS BUT NIGGAS WOULD RATHER ACT LIKE THEY ARE INVINCIBLE!!!!!!!!!

But...............

The numbers don't like..............

He's posting "studies" that are inconclusive or say that they "may" be true

The numbers and I'm talking about the cold hard facts and data on COVID prove otherwise everyday.

Nah you get a new flu shot cause they've added new strains they found last flu season to the vaccine. This is not a new thing either, we(as in hoomans) do it all the time with other everyday common vaccines. We do this cuz we continue to study them and find the versions we weren't aware of(or cuz they mutated/evolved and now we need updated vaccines)

Bruh I never said go get infected instead of vaxxed. I got infected before the vaccines were rolled out. I didn't have other options. I tell anyone now if u never got infected just go get vaxxed.

And yes the variants are due to unvaxxed populations. The poor countries who rely on rich countries to donate their vaccine supply bc big pharma won't let go of their patents. They rather be greedy and rake in as much profit as possible instead.of giving their patent up so poorer countries can have their own vaccines.

In doing so the varaitns continue to emerge, they keep giving rich countries 2,3,4,5 boosters while the poor countries lag behind, play catch up, and more variants emerge.

That's why this shit is never going anywhere.

Lol.do u not know how studies work?

They say "may" "suggest" because like u said, this is still on going. But as of right now, the data says previous infection lends stronger immunity than a double jab.

That is the data. Opinions can not override that.
