The official COVID-19/Coronavirus Discussion Thread...aka I hope I don't get the Rona

Be honest,

Before COVID-19, a lot of you niggas were not this informed one way or the other (meaning in support of or against) vaccines and the Novel Coronavirus in general. So the majority of the discussion you're having around COVID is relatively new shit to you isn't it?

I've been up on various viruses, vaccines, WHO, CDC, and pandemics for a little more than a decade now. I graduated High School in 2007 and I started gathering information about vaccines and viruses when I was in the 7th grade. 7th Grade was when school kids were first allowed to play for the school sports teams. 6th graders couldn't play. So 7th grade was the first time I had to take a physical to play sports. You know, having a random doctor grab your nuts while you cough and shit? Crazy ain't it? It was also the same year I has to get an MMR shot or something similar to that which was REQUIRED FOR ALL SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN AND STILL IS BTW. I wanted to know the purpose of all of that so.......I read about it. Literally went to the library and had a teacher help me find information on it.

Throughout middle school and high school I've written several papers or essays on viruses, vaccines, diseases, and even one on invitro fertilization.

I'm not saying this to say I'm better than any of y'all because for all I know one of you niggas could be a fucking expert at this shit. I'm just saying it to show you that I've spent years gathering information about what is right now the most important thing happening in the world. So when I see people spreading misinformation I can't help but feel like somewhere along the way you were led down the wrong path and due to the nature of the beast that social media is this day and age you have gone so far down the wrong path that there's almost no chance at saving you.

So if it sounds like I'm putting you down or dissing you in my post it's because I probably am nigga lolololololololol

Fuck you thought this was? A feel good post? No.

The depth at which the misinformation and flat out bullshit is being spread in here is beyond laughable and has become annoying and shameful.

So yeah, you can say that I am actually the one being a stuck up, snobby know it all, bitch ass nigga if you want to. It's all good. I know what I'm saying is right though. I have the history, facts, and evidence to prove it. We're seeing it play out in real time. Everyday. So take that and do what you want with it.

One thing’s for sure, social media is the devil. Like you said, people follow a path wholly dictated by algorithms and fall into an echo chamber of confirmation bias and think their opinion is somehow greater than the experts. Then they are so passionate about that stance they get tied to it and will not admit they may be wrong.

And I’m not saying trust experts blindly, but when it comes to health and science, who else are you going to trust? People are so arrogant to think they know better or think they even have enough knowledge/experience to question these experts. Then they see counter info from other experts but they lack context. Just see the headline or read an article and think they have an epiphany. I’m sorry but no one on this board can read the research of virologists and immunologists and understand it. There’s a base level of knowledge we don’t have that is crucial to understanding.

So when people say I’m just following what the media is saying or trusting Fauci blindly, my rebuttal is who are you getting your info from? 9 times out of 10 I bet they can’t say or it’s some mishmash of sources that aren’t terribly reliable.

From what I can tell most everyone here has been vaxxed aside from at least one person who can't for health reasons. And myself I haven't done it yet bc I caught and beat Covid before the vaccines came out and natural immunity is looking stronger than vaccines. If that changes I'll eventually get vaxxed as well...or if they don't change these retarded rules to include natural immunity as well.

Two things,

1.) You didn't beat COVID just because you caught it and didn't die.........................You do understand this right?

2,) There is no natural immunity. No I mean really, there is no natural immunity on the horizon. How do I know this? Well that goes back to point number one. It is still too early to full grasp the long term effects of COVID. Like, this shit isn't a 2 hour movie where we have to move the plot along and get to the conclusion. We do not know when we can confidently understand the long term effects of COVID. So because of that, there can be no natural immunity. The virus has already mutated into a more contagious and more deadly variant. That FACT alone should show you that it is still too early to jump to a conclusion about any sort of immunity and there is no way to state that anyone who caught COVID actually beat it. We are still in the beginning stages and you're speaking as though the next few years will just go right along as usual. You have no idea what's in store for you.








Here's what we do know though......................

The vaccines available have been proven to be highly effective against the virus and have been proven to be safe. Those are two Facts that cannot be disputed. Like, they can't be disputed. By every metric measurable the vaccines have been proven to be safe and effective.

What cannot be proven is any sort of immunity status and any definitive statements on long term effects. You can't prove either of those.
 
the funniest part about the "natural immunity" angle is it's essentially saying "I couldn't properly wear a mask, social distance or wash my hands properly in the first place so I'm naturally an expert on covid".

This is not a good argument at all. Especially considering those who "beat" the original strain are getting infected way less than those vaccinated with no prior infection.

How is that not a good argument?

You talk about the virus as if catching it and surviving is a done deal. You lack an understanding of what a virus actually is. You can't defeat an opponent that hasn't even played all of their cards yet. You do not know what the future of your health will be.

What exactly did you beat? The COVID you caught was not the latest and greatest variant of COVID that's out there at the moment. You said you caught it beofre vaccines were available which means you DID NOT CONTACT THE DELTA VARIANT. So no you did beat COVID. You simply caught it and you cannot sit here today on August 30th 2021 and talk as if you know what your future outlook on life is gonna be.

You caught a variation of a virus that has yet to show what it's full devastation can be.

Here's what we know.

COVID-19 has a new, more contagious, and deadlier variant. It is called The Delta Variant. Based on that information alone, you cannot talk about catching the virus and surviving as if that is the end. It's not.
