Wonder why they didn’t get Lingard as this was the reported fee??


Two things :

1) does man u actually want to sell? It is no surprise to say that W. Ham definitely wanted to keep Lingard so the deal could have been done beginning of transfer. Now with James going, it might be a smart move in the end to keep him as he's versatile on the wing too

2) to contradict my first point, Man U may have just made the decision to sell too late. If I'm not mistaken, his contract ends summer 2022 so Man U might have to do something slick here (eg swap deal for Ruben neves?)
