Welcome To aBlackWeb

I disagree I thought it was better than them. The Irishman is a very different film.

It's fine if you like it better. My point is that you can't look at this movie as some kinda cinematic masterpiece but then act like those movies are fluff films. It's cool, but it's just a crime flick. We can play the same kinda game with movies of that genre that he tried to do with the superhero genre.

Oh but it is a cinematic masterpiece tho, the depth of characters, the acting chops, even the struggles of the characters. I understand what he meant with the superhero films and imo it's not a fair comparison because what we deem a masterpiece or not is subjective.

I think Scorsese's point is that a lot of superhero movies are one dimensional in the sense that the good guys always win and often without losing anything but bad character traits to send a message to kids when it's not that easy and sometimes or as Scorsese films show, the bad guys win and often are the people we see in the mirror but we live with it and try to justify it.

Superhero films aren't snuff films but I get what he was trying to say as much as I disagreed with him.

A director doesn't get credit for the fact that his actors are GOATs and we've seen basically the same characterizations in most of his movies. That's precisely what he and Coppola were bashing the MCU over.

I'm Trying Not To Shit On This Movie

Marty Is My Favorite Director Alive So I Definitely Need To Give Him The Benefit Of The Doubt

Hes Been In The Game Too Long And Put Out Too Many Classics

I'll Reserve Final Judgement After Multiple Viewings

Definitely Don't Disagree With You On That

It Pains Me To Say It Marty Does His Best Work He Does Shit He Knows About

Mostly New York Based Crime Dramas

When He Tries To Dabble In Other Subject Matter That Shit Just Aint As Good

Silence, Aviator (Fight Me), Gangs Of New York Just Don't Hit As Well As Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull

Definitely not the best movie from this group of dudes but as good as it probably could be in 2019. A little too long for me but it was entertaining until the last 20 minutes or so.

For someone talking big shit about what cinema is or isn't.. this film overall was just aite to me.. You talk that kinda shit and got a film coming out you gotta hit it outa the park.. not just show up with something so so.

It was a good story... a bit long but still a good film..Nothing mind blowing tho.. I probably won't ever watch again personally..

All u comic book nerds need to get out ya feels about the cinema shits

its not even about comic movies but get ya shit off fam.

this shit was just aite. Deniro, Pacino and Pesci did a hell of a job.. undeniable..

The Departed I still dont rank it as high, check out Infernal Affairs which is what inspired Departed .

Dope of you to drop Infernal Affairs on the folks here. Very good movie that was better than Departed.

Unfortunately I haven't been up on my asian martial arts/action/crime cinema like I used to be.

This here,

Shit was iight, but I don't care to go back n forth about his comments on MCU

Completely different kinds of movies. And I think that's all he was really saying. The rest of the shit was grumpy old man elitism
