They still wouldn't get it.
some got it, some didn't

but it was always there.......

and the conversation has always been there...

if the planet of the apes is being discussed in a classroom, and the conversation doesn't become about racism....then someone isn't paying attention

it needed a cross species sex scene

I think as black folks we need to stop trying to explain shit to CACs if they still ignorant to the problems still it's on purpose.

we ain't make it tho

white folk stay trying to call each other out on their bullshit... remember that cop movie white man's burden? or stan lee being blatant as shit in the 70's with the x men comics.....

white folk stay trying to tell white folk they grimey about racism...

they just do it through art...

we do too though...

our comedy/satire game is way sharper... but they stay doing it too......

a lot of them unfortunately do get it..... but it never gets taken seriously....which is why the most honest political commentary has always been on comedy central....

well if i take it at face value...a bunch of scientists doing experiments on apes..the intended experiment has an adverse reaction thus making the apes have a higher level of understanding and comprehension so much so that they free themselves of their captors.

then, through progression, im hesitant to use evolution b/c the time period b/t when each film takes place is relatively short, they (apes) band together to form their own civilization

but answer this...if this movie is racially charged...who does Koba represent? He's the one that starts the war essentially. Dont tell me ya'll think he was planted there by white people to cause dissension among the rest of the apes.

like i said, the sequels lost the steam of the originals, i haven't even seen the new shit...

but planet of the apes has always been about the oppressed and the oppressors at it's core theme.....and using apes as a proxy for black folk....

no matter how much more science or drama or compelling story arcs they add into the sequels... at the core, it's a revolutionary tale about the oppressed...was it not?

Just this most recent weekend we had I finally checked out the new Planet of the Apes films. The Wahlberg one from the early 00's made me uninterested in them, but these newer ones are dope af.

Franco and Caesar having a falling out in the first one had me all in my feels but Caesar is a G. I need to see that War for the Planet of the Apes in theaters before it goes away. Might catch it at the 3 dollar theater though.
