.;l'//if u look @ that jacked up sentence, it actually seems like i'm saying i'm a grandma to 7.
I have the goat Name and 95% of fam and friends never call me it.
Names are very important. Imo your name is supposed to have meaning.
Whether white people or whoever judge you by not having a more socially common name is irrelevant.
We as Black people should work to own our own shit anyway and not worry about being a white man's employee.
Also having a different or an uncommon name builds character.
Doesn't set a good precedence. You're gonna tell ur son to cut off his dreads because society's gonna judge him? Gonna tell your daughter to not wear her hair natural and straighten it because society will judge her? When does it stop? They're gonna get judged regardless. Stop letting society control your life.
really? This is a very good point because I know a lot of people who wont let their children grow locs because of society's thoughts on natural hair.
really?
This part of the discussion is personal to me but he also told his son not to grow locs because no lawyer can have locs. Now don't get me wrong I have very strong feelings about those who choose to grow their hair without an understanding of what and why but that is up to them. Also, please don't think everyone with locs is Rastafari and people without locs can't be Rastafari.I remember Steve Harvey laptop teeth having ass was telling the boys in his mentor program to cut their dreads because of how they would be looked at..
I can't stand when old black folks say "tap shoeing" shit like that.
I've seen this a lot (n done it myself in my yute)Yesssss sis. Its crazy.
I hear it all the time.
Or they make their children cut their hair after a certain age
or even adults cut their locs off because they feel as though they cant get certain jobs or be accepted into mainstream society.
real spill.
Shit's legal to fire somebody because of their locs too
Shit's legal to fire somebody because of their locs too
Is that just for people born here? Because we don't know that in the Caribbean. If your name ends with a "a" you're ratchet and uncouth.
If your name ends with a "a" you're ratchet and uncouth.
