ALL police hired from 2021 on should be required to have 60 credits in Criminal Justice or an Associate's Degree equivalent. We simply HAVE to stop hiring humans off the street to wear badges and carry guns simply because they can pass a fitness test and an exam. I took the NYPD exam many moons ago, just for kicks. I got a 90 in it.

The standards for creating officers simply HAVE to be better if we're going to have better relations with those charged to "protect and serve" us all. Cause right now, THIS AIN'T IT, and more of America will continue to burn because of it.

I hope that brother Jacob Blake pulls through. No one should be nearly murdered in front of their own kids....especially by "public servants."

How does college credits or a degree help curb what the police are doing out here in your opinion?

Idiots get degrees every semester. I really don't see having college credits or a degree helping in curbing the shit police are doing.

Expert mental evaluations before hiring and every 6 months once on the job is better than requiring some type of college IMO. Also having a mental evaluation within 12 hrs of ANY physical incident should be required as well.

None of the evaluations should be given by an employee of the dept, state or fed govt.

yup... they should have mental health experts that give them tests every 6 months... also, they need to rotate them off street duty... they become too jaded & heartless to the public... rotate them out in different roles... and make them get their police license annually... if they ended up in a wrongful death, rip their license up so they can never police again (similar to nurses/doctors)

there’s so much they can do but won’t implement...

I agree idiots get degrees all the time. I’m just saying, it will be a barrier. Also, they should be knowledgeable of the laws and system they are enforcing.

The mental health evaluation could be good as well, but many of these people aren’t mentally ill in the medical sense. Another barrier though so I’m with it.
