Should Every Child Start In Church For Foundation?

So. I dont go to church anymore and observe the Sabbath at home on most Saturday's. I'm definitely not the perfect example of an Israelite, and i admit it. But im working on it. That being said, I'm pretty lax on my son at the moment because if i tried to break everything down to him now, he'd be more confused that anything. But we read the bible together a lot and I've been trying to reach him hebrew letters little things.

One thing I have "pushed" on him is prayer tho. I have told him that he may decide that this path isn't for him, and he can change at any time. But while he is under my roof, as a provider and protector, my job is to equip him with the knowledge to survive on his own as an adult. And IMO, a personal realtionship with The Most High is the most important thing you will need. So I've always made sure he has prayed before meals and at night.

I'll never forget probably like 2 years ago when he was 6. He woke me up on night bevause he had a bad dream and was scared. I told him everything was ok and then we prayed together for peace of mind and protection from malevolent spirits and what not. He was cool after that. So fast forward a month or two...we are getting ready for school/work in the morning. He just randomly says, "Dad, i really don't have bad dreams anymore." So im like thats cool, but where did that come from? And he says " i dont know, but i always pray when im scared of anything and i feel better. But i haven't had any more bad dreams."

I think that was my confirmation that im doing something right.

Speaking of the Sabbath, if Sunday is the day of rest why does Christian chirch have service on Sunday? Saturday should be the day of service instead of Sunday

Tradition. That's the only good answer I can offer. Apostolic and seventh day Adventist observe it though

If god is within you why is the sabbath only 1 day? And everyone seems to have a different day of sabbath.

one of my good friends is a 7th day adventist

well, only the parts that suit him lol

he used to have us dying back in college when he decided what parts of the faith he would participate in. And frfr, i had never heard of that faith until i met him

Those aren't the same to me. Your lil girl decide she don't believe in religion are you still gonna force her to do something she has no interest in.

with anything in life, i will do my best to equip her with the knowledge that she needs to know. Once she gets to an age where she can fully grasp what she wants to do while applying sound logic and reason, then she will be ready to walk her own path

forget all the showmanship that is typically associated with the black church and if you look at what its supposed to represent, i, like Du, believe it can be a nice framework for a young person to develop certain traits and characteristics. Its not the end all be all though

once you can intelligently communicate to me while you feel it serves no benefit to you, then that is a bridge we will cross at that time

imma force her to do her homework, and pass her tests in school.

explain to me how forcing my child to go to church is any different than forcing them to go to school.....

They aint the same tho, an education is needed like food, water, shelter, and clothing. I can't say the same for religion.....

1. you can't say the same but to many folk they are one of the same
2. i said nothing about education, i said forcing your children to go to school......you can home school just like you home worship,....

so what's the difference?

Even if they're home schooled they are still going to school so it is the same.

You forcing something on someone will just have them resent it even more.

As Chi town b said they're still going to school, schooling is a need, you can't say the same for religion.
