Should Black Entertainers Defer To Black Activists On Black Topics

I don’t think anybody is saying you have to be eloquent. Saying not killing black people is fine. But then you got folks saying stuff like cops need to be understood or violent protest does not work and a bunch of nice ways to voice disapproval. That’s when people get upset because it makes it seem like a lot of celebs don’t fully get it. A lot of people don’t get it in general. But why is ok in some situations for somebody to speak out and we accept it vs others. Their is a reason we don’t let celebrities make policies.

And the alternative is not to say nothing but expecting people with the money and resources to not have a little more access to good sources and to use them isn’t a bad thing. Like damn we all on the same side but any type of critique is viewed as an attack

Right yet people are attacking or feel attached.

We all on the same side but if someone disagrees or sees something a different they are attached. Shit it happens on this site . So imagine other places

I can not tell you how to feel but I can voice I think something is not right. As long as u am not rude or iffensuve in mentioning my stance we should keep it to dialouge and while we both may still disagree....It can be a learning lesson.

Help me understand, don't force me to agree.

And stopping someone from speak can stop a potential great orator from developing.

Malcolm x was a criminal....Yet developed into something more with the right guidance and support.

We Need to help each other become better...Not frustrate them by saying...yea you need to only dribble.

Dr Umar. Sometimes black people will accept half baked ideas if dressed up right
As we need to speak on this..I wanted to build to this. But since we are here...Jay Morrison and plenty of pastors look and speak the part. Great speakers....Yet stealing from their own.

So being articulate is not what should be focused on.

Truth be told mostly all of the black visionaries that niggaz know and love are just as much just men, just like them. When you hear a brother like Dick Gregory speak, there is knowledge, wisdom, and game. At the same time there is flaw in a man preaching a way to be to folks that arent capable of being that way.

That in a sense muddies the water, cause those brothers will then turn to men like Umar and such and idolize men like them cause the spirit of the message is the same but they are capable of at least existing in the spirit of what he speaks.

That's the power of brothas like MLK and Malcom, it's not demanding of the type of brotha you have to be to fight injustice, it's just the belief that you have to be a brotha fighting for justice. Ok you might be a school, you might be an organizer, you might be a fancier.

The goal isnt to make you believe you arent enough, but that what you are is enough. Brotha if you can only give me a dolla, let that dollar rest easy wit me, if that's all you are capable of. Cause see we need every brotha. Not just the brotha will to be exactly like Malcom and Martin. That's where we lost track.

So if a basketball player is willing to kneel, let that brother kneel. If he is willing to go in his pocket let him go in his pocket, if he is willing to protest, let him protest, but dont demand that he be all of everything, cause you ain't all of everything.

If we all do what we can and what we are capable at our most. The quantity of the quality, out weighs the quantity of those deemed only qualified

San Fran and Austin are known to be liberal tho. Peaceful protests or not the culture of the area plays a part especially in places like San Fran and Austin

True, but I think that's kinda where Mike and TI were coming from. I think they were trying to say that ATL is a city where blacks have some influence and shouldn't have needed to resort to rioting. Whether that's true or not, I don't know.

It's an OK read so far.
But I wonder if him being biracial takes away from his message.

Alright somebody has to bring this up;

2Pac. He was really passionate about uplifting the Black Community, or at least that's what you would think from listening to his interviews, but he made moves that completely nullified what he was saying. For example when he beat up the Hughes brothers. Or when he was spitting at those reporters, or when he jumped Orlando Anderson in the casino.

You can't talk about uplifting the community one minute and then jump somebody in a casino the next minute.

And making records threatening other rappers doesn't help either.

I think 2Pac is the epitome of this thread.
