Breaking News School Shooting in Nashville

uhhhh wasnt there a shooting in Vegas in like 2017 where 60 people were killed and hundreds were wounded?

yup. And because of that extra security measures are in place at the hotels so it never happens again.

But even before that, police were heavy up and down the strip. If you look in that fight thread in the cool table, I posted two videos, one of which you'll see these cat run up in yellow shirts and hem up the folks fighting: That's Metro's bike/foot patrol for The Strip, they were on the strip when we first moved there in 2011. They also have unmarked cars (usually white Ford Taurus') parked up and down the strip with cops in them ready to go. Metro patrols it, and every casino has multiple armed guards there. I know that 'cause I worked NetSec for Caesars corporate from 2012-2013 and had to interface with security on a near daily basis at all of our properties.

Again... If you're scared of multiple armed guards, stay far away from Vegas. For that matter, don't go to Laughlin, Reno, or the Vegas side of Lake Tahoe.

You talking out both sides of your mouth though. In one breath you say just the schools, then proceed to give examples of other places where it’s done as if to suggest that’s the solution there too.

So what’s your solution for all of the other public places?

I'm specifically addressing Inori by saying just schools, HOWEVER the other places he's listed already have guards and it's not uncommon to see them in those places already.

I don't remember the last time I've been to a bank that didn't have BP glass and an armed guard. Shit is commonplace already.

Every mall in Vegas has armed security. Every mall I've been to here in SE MI has security though I didn't pay attention to whether they were armed or not. Most of the malls in Metro PHX I went to had armed security as well.

So your solution is to make every public place a hard target, got it.

To be honest. That entire situation was sketchy as fuck. He had to have so much help to pull this shit off. No way you can that much firearms and ammo along with the killing

dawg, my wife had multiple FB live streams she was watching while it was happening talking about there were multiple shooters. People on the ground were reporting a shooter across the street perched on top of the unfinished Ferris wheel's supports, one at Tropicana down the way and others in the crowd. I remember one chick had been shot and she was saying it came from someone in the crowd but FB took down that video hours later.

Everything they bring up as a solution has an example of where that solution failed. But they’d rather keep pushing it than admit that maybe the ease of access to guns and the amount of guns is the problem.

Whereas we show examples in the rest of the world and even in the US where stricter gun laws did work (proven the AR ban 94-04 worked).

And before y’all start, ease is relative. I’m saying it should be even harder to get guns than it is today.

See that in his hand? It's a Tec9. They were SPECIFICALLY called out in the 1994 ban.

The ban sure as shit didn't stop Dylan Klebold from using one to kill multiple students in the most notorious school shooting in US history.

Here you go again, conflating zero incidents with a sharp rate reduction.

By the way, here’s the facts. There were actually years where there were no deaths from mass shootings.

And this doesn’t even go to 2023. This stops at 2017.

Didn’t the criteria change for what is a mass shooting?

Also. Ain’t a lot of MS gang violence?

Sure did. They also screw around with the definition of a school shooting by doing shit like including incidents that took placd outside of school hours involving noom linked to the school, but took place within a certain distance of it.

Lot of missing context you purposely left out from that article.

Other more comprhensive studies concluded that the ban had no significant imapct and that gun violemce was declining prior to and after the ban

Even the gov admitted it didnt work

“While the incidence rate was higher pre-ban than post-ban, the number of victims killed and shot — the severity of mass public shootings — has increased dramatically in the post-ban period, after 2004, Duwe found.”

So I’ll concede the number of incidences point, but the severity is greater, which that graphic shows. The graphic was not about incidences, but rather number of people killed each year.
