What's being considered an advantage could just as easily if not more so be considered a disadvantage. The Jackson name was well established by the time Janet entered the music scene. The name alone not going to keep you in the industry look at Rebbie and Latoya...even Jermaine.. they all had access to the same opportunities as Janet yet it didn't happen for them. I'm not going to put Aaliyah over Janet bc she wasn't "discovered". She had to give people a reason to care that she wasn't just another Jackson cashing in on the name. For her to be the second most accomplished Jackson out of all them says a lot in my opinion.
eh, i may be hard on janet...cuz i personally never really cared much for her, but that doesn't change "one in a million" being a better song than "anytime any place"

all things considered i did vote for janet against toni...so it's not like i'm calling her garbage

Hit for hit Aaliyah ain't fucking with Janet, album vs album she ain't fucking with Janet and video vs video she ain't fucking with Janet and I'm only talking about Janet's 90's run.

Y'all been overrating Aaliyah since she died, she was just good not great

well in this one specific case...

ranking song for song..

what the whole point of the fucking thread and tournament is...

aaliyah wins.....

This is extremely hard to choose from. This is like having twins but the doctor ask "which one do you wanna keep alive"

All of this is hilarious because there's no disputing which song has the better production. Add that to the fact that Janet might be the only singer Aaliyah was a better vocalist than and it makes the debate, regarding these two songs, laughable.

Well said. Simple and to the point.

One in a million always sounded like a Missy Elliot throwaway track to me. It's a boyfriend song dedication track. But I'll give it to her,Aaliyah sings her ass off and the lyrics are sweet.

Anytime, anyplace sets the mood. That's a woman who's honest about the passion she feels and let's her man know it.

Maybe it's just cause I'm getting older but that grown woman shit resonates with me more. Fuck all them lies about giving a nigga everything his soul desires. Like his soul? Really? Lol, I'd rather have that 'my skirt around my waist and wall against my face' vibe going on tbh...

Aaliyah had pop hits, sex appeal, nice videos and great production. However, when it comes to song vs song.
Anytime Anyplace kills One in a Million.

I love when songs tell stories and take you through the thoughts and emotion of the artist.

You get a story with One in a Million but you get a vivid image with creative composition in addition to the sex appeal, nice video and great production.

Janet takes this one for me.

Sorry A. A. L. I. Y. A. H.
