Presidential Candidate: Andrew Yang...talks Universal Health care, $1k dividend monthly stipend, etc

I like everything he was saying pretty much but hopefully he's able to expand his platform to include other topics and not end up like Bernie in 2016 just pivoting back to the same talking points over and over. I'm only 15 minutes into it though so maybe he goes into other subjects.

Pretty much. Bernie hasn't switched up much and has been saying that whole "All of the wealth is going to the top 1%" for years and he's still getting a lot of support.

Andrew Yang seems to have a bit more substance from what I heard from the others so far. And while he has little to no chance, maybe if he gets some more attention on him he can get the other candidates to rock with some of the policies that they see from him that are resonating with the people.

call me crazy, but i dont want his ideas coming from other people

i dont want someone to latch onto him in an effort to drown him out and make him a less viable candidate

what gets me is, people keep calling this the land of opportunity, but that must not apply to occupying the oval office. Prior to obama, every president was old and white. So, you sell this illusion that immigrants and others can come to the country, but god forbid if they want to run for office b/c they might actually do shit worth a damn

im tired of being one of the most advanced nations on the earth, yet, college debt prevents young people (myself included) from just starting a life immediately after school, or people that look like me getting jammed up on petty non violent drug charges. All i know is that, old white men and changing shit, Bernie included

I'm just drawing from the Bernie/Hillary situation. Because Bernie made so much noise and people were rockin with what he was saying.. it forced Hillary to move more to the left some more once she won the primary and was the Democratic nominee.

I liked how he explained how Alaska has that stipend for their residents and that's a Conservative/Red state.

Automation is only going to become a bigger issue..and it seems that a lot of folks are not being re-trained to keep up with the changing jobs market. A Universal Basic Income makes sense

ITs called the Permanent Fund Dividend and you're goddamn right I get it every October.

Our previous governor took half of all our dividends the last 3 years because our state is broke af and has no funding. We're like flint michigan out here. Not really that bad, but its bad.

This new super conservative governor is paying us back these next 3 years so our next 3 dividends should be around 3k-3500 which sounds cool and all, but the bigger the dividend, the more it fucks you over when its Tax time as its untaxed income. Sometimes i just pretend i didnt get one and send in the Taxes and cross my fingers. Only did it like twice, but they aint caught me yet lmao. That was like 5 years ago tho. And its not TERRIBLE but it does take a solid 200-500 away from your tax return.
