I'd say there's utility in not looking like you got money. You can move wherever you want, how you want, and nobody's the wiser. Plus, you keep more of the money you earn so there's that.

One is for safety reasons. You telling somebody not to buy jays because their money could be spent in other ways isn’t bad advice. But it’s different from telling your peoples not to go all out at the restaurant near a hood.

bruh, forreal.

I drive around with a goddamned rifle in my truck on the daily 'cause these muhfuckas out here on some bullshit. If I was back home in Tha D there's still certain areas of the city I simply won't go to unarmed if I even went in the first place.

I can't imagine traveling to a whole different city in a state I don't call "home" and pullin' up to the hood, completely unarmed, unless it's where my peoples happen to live. And even then I'm reluctant to go. Some years ago we went to LA to link up with my wife's family from Oakland at an aunt's crib literally a few blocks off Crenshaw and Slauson. Wife's brother is a big ass dude and he from the hood in Oakland and even HE was mad uncomfortable over that way.
 
On a serious note... this song continues to resonate with me every time one of these kids senselessly takes or loses a life



We're out here worried about culture vultures when there are real vultures out here.
